2017 Rewind: a look back

I was supposed to begin this rewind thing last week, but it just didn’t work out.

Looking back at last year January-March, I realized that I still had no real direction of where I was taking this blog. I had long ago strayed from the original intentions and although I was posting daily (or almost), my focus was mostly on the 365 Days of Writing challenge (some of those prompts were ridiculously repetitive!). I was also contemplating on doing book reviews around that time, something I started doing in March 2017 beginning with the Holy Bible.

La Petit Muse is pretty random and I’ve had many ideas over the past few months, but I want the main focus to be on God and that’s why I like starting the morning with a scripture before I post anything else. I am excited to start Bible Studies and I have a few new series line up for 2018, so we’ll see how that goes.

I enjoyed watching La Petit Muse bloom last year given that I had no clear direction of where I was going. Also, thank you to all of my readers (I don’t like saying followers) and visitors. You guys are amazing! ❤

I look forward to rewinding back to some of my favorite posts soon. 🙂

Living for Him.

Reflecting on my relationship with God

I grew up believing that there was a God and that He made the heaven and earth and created us in His image. Although I’ve strayed away from attending church and neglecting the Bible at some point in my life, I never stopped praying and believing in God. I made the decision to live for Him although I am still working on areas of my life. This is the best decision I’ve ever made because He accepts us as we are.

Tomorrow God’s willing, I’ll talk about answering His call.

Entertainment then and now

Reflecting on entertainment.

THEN

I was a music lover growing up. I loved Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, Daft Punk, Backstreet Boys, soft rock music, and the occasional R&B. I used to keep abreast of my favorite musicians so when they drop new music, I’ll be the first to hear/get it. I would stay up late, my eyes glued to the TV screen watching movies until I fell asleep. I also used to write songs and I almost joined a record company in Michigan (?) as a songwriter. I’m glad that did not work out. It took me a while to open my ears to realize that the music I was listening to was not glorifying God.

NOW

It’s pretty hard for me to listen to music now. I gave away my Michael Jackson CD collection and it was not even hard to do. I don’t miss it. I don’t even look back and go ‘Man, I wished I had kept them!” I also threw out music from Madonna, Def Leppard, Ciara etc. I listen to hymns and spiritual songs, but I also have to be aware of some of these so-call Christian artists. Now and then, I’ll listen to a song with clean and pleasing lyrics.

I am now down to two TV shows which is Criminal Minds and Riverdale. A few months ago, I mentioned that I was losing my interest in movies. I watch movies once in a blue moon now if it holds my interest. The last movie I saw was American Made and I haven’t watched any movies since then.

Now, when I want to be entertained, I pick up my Bible.

Airport lights at night. Hate the flights itself, but love getting away.

How was your day?

Reflecting on today.

I cannot complain because it simply is a blessing to be alive. I went to work as normal, but I did not work on the display I should’ve got done eons ago! I scheduled blog posts for the week and caught up with blogs I follow.

Talking about God is my favorite topic and I never shy away from entertaining questions about His Word. It was the same today as I discussed our Savior and how to pray with a fellow colleague who is interested in drawing close to Him once again. Please keep her in your prayers. She is making every effort to make her way back to Him.

A friend stopped by to say hello and we got to chatting about many things and we found out that we have two things in common: we dislike magic, but we like Tom Cruise. I grinned at him and asked him, “What are the odds?” I would’ve never pegged him for a TC fan.

The sun has set, and once again, I look towards heaven and thank God for bringing me through another day here on earth. I just finished Bible study with my sister and now we’re going to spend some time bonding. ❤

Reflection Week!

Let’s see how far we’ve come.

Time stopped and everything around me suddenly came to a grinding halt. In that moment, I stood still with the world. I made a promise to myself to appreciate life more and the people in it. To give as much love as I can. To do His will.

Most of all, I promise myself to love life no matter where it may take me, as I continue to help others seek the pursuit of happiness.

 :

I wrote those words last year November after I came across that photo of Tom Cruise looking out at the sea. I like attaching words to photos. 🙂

Every now and then, we have to sit and reflect on how far we’ve come, the goals we hope to achieve in x amount of time, but most of us, we have to reflect on our growth as an individual. So this week I’ll be doing a little reflection. Join me?

Possible topics:

^ How was your day?

> Entertainment then and now

^ Look back and thank Him for bringing you through

> Am I who I want to be?

^ Living for Him.
