God is merciful and truthful.

Scripture in focus:Β All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37

This is a very powerful and beautiful promise. With Jesus, we have eternal security. When He came down from heaven, He came to do the Father’s will (John 6:38). The Father sent His Son to die for our wicked ways so the Father can purchase us and entrust us in the care and responsibility of His precious Son (John 6:39). We are His and no one can make a claim of ownership for He has marked us as His own after we were purchased with the blood of the Son and the Holy Spirit sealed the deal.Β

Some believers are fearful of backsliding, but fear not for:

I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

Hosea 14:4 & Jeremiah 3:22

What if we sin?

And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous

1 John 2:1

Praise God! He is so merciful towards us that there is no point in trying to make up excuses to justify turning away from Him or not being ready to accept Him fully as Lord and Savior. His ways are not ours and we’re inclined to turn away for a little while, but even in temptation, we can call on the Lord for aid.

God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

1 Corinthians 10:13 see also 2 Thessalonians 3:3

There is no excuse for not wanting to come to our Saviour and find the rest we’ve been craving in His loving arms. He will receive you and never cast you aside. If you backslide, He’ll heal you. If you sin, He’ll make intercession to the Father for you. If we fall into temptation, He’ll provide a way for you to escape and make you white as snow. How can one not want this beautiful relationship with the Creator of the Universe?

Biblical Reflection

The promises of God

Body of Water during Dawn

The Bible is full of wonderful promises! Here are some of my favorites:

God has promised that those who believe in Jesus and are baptized, they will be forgiven of all sins and shall be saved.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16)

Peter replied, β€œRepent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

God has promised His people eternal life.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10: 27-28)

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

God has promised deliverance from demonic harassment.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

God has promised to deliver us from sickness.

The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. (Psalms 34:17)

β€œCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:28-29)

God has promised to give us peace. To deliver us from fear.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

“But whosoever listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” (Proverbs 1:33)

God has promised to take care of us.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? (Matthew 6:25)

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19

Aren’t those wonderful promises? Drawing closer to God can be rewarding. Don’t lose sight of the promises He has in store for you.
