Mission: Impossible – Fallout was 🔥

Mission: Impossible – Fallout opened here (Trinidad) last evening and I had to be there on opening day. To be honest, I thought we were getting this movie on August 01st for we hardly get movies this early, but I ain’t complaining. I enjoyed it in the company of a few friends and they’ll be returning to watch it again. Yes, it was that good.

This time around, McQuarrie gives us a deeper look at what makes Ethan Hunt tick. The film is filled with lots of eye-popping action and Tom Cruise ran away with the show.

I’ll be writing a full review sometime next week God’s willing if I get up to it.

MI:6 – Parisian premiere and that wicked fight scene!

This post will self-destruct in five seconds (possibly).

The actors of Mission: Impossible – Fallout turned out for the Parisian premiere last evening and the critics couldn’t stop raving about the movie. The movie started filming without a script. Reminds me of my own writing, sometimes. I just wing it sometimes abandoning plotting and outlining. Anyway, the City of Love was bathed in splendor and glamour last evening.

The Eiffel Tower totally wore it better and outshone everyone else.

All eyes were on Tom…

…who proved that he isn’t a vampire once and for all. I mean, look at that aging. If that isn’t aging, then I don’t want to live on this planet anymore. He said that the movie is a “love letter to Paris”. And I honestly don’t know how can he stops to talk to every fan, sign every autograph and take every selfie even before the red carpet starts!

A few raves about the movie:

Entertainment Weekly: He’s (Tom) “ageless”, with the film getting “better, twistier and more deliriously fun with each installment.”

Variety: “with each one (MI film) surpassing the last this one is the most exciting and ambitious of the lot”.

The Telegraph: “spectacular and eye-popping” and “the blockbuster of the summer”

Even if the critics didn’t like it, I was still planning on seeing it because this franchize has grown on me. The spy action genre does not come better than this and I love that Paris is one of the backdrops for this film because Paris makes every movie look good even when it doesn’t deserve to. And the crew is going to do a lot of running for their lives.

Tom says that there’s some ‘heart’ in the movie. Who is he going to romance? The ex-wife? The crazy super spy who’s his equal? The blondie he’s holding hands with in the picture above as they run for their lives? Somebody, tell me! Eh, forget it. I’ll see when the film drops. I want to talk about the epic bathroom fight scene, though. I wanted to wait until I start my new series on writing, but alas! It cannot wait so let’s get to it.

The bathroom is made of cardboard or the men are just really strong. That aside, I like how the fight looks realistic despite the Asian dude tearing a drain pipe from the wall. Ethan Hunt does not beat everyone in the room singlehandedly and walks out unscathed. He gets blows and lands blows. Even August Walker gets some blows, too. He’s supposed to be “babysitting” Ethan if he tries to go rogue again and yet, he gets his butt handed to him although he does get in some nice punches. Looks like the brawler type though, and I am still on the fence with Henry Cavill. I like him better when he’s not speaking.

The fight choreography was really well done right down to Hunt’s keysi moves and reaction timing. The Asian man is trying to take out an IMF agent and a CIA assassin at the same time! I especially love the part where August throws the man into the mirror, dude grabs the pipe just as Ethan comes running without looking (13 seconds in) and he just hurls it at Ethan, but super agent ducks in time and the pipe hits the wall. The look on Ethan’s face when he sees the pipe coming towards it was priceless. And the fact that there is no music makes it even better for the realism and the grittiness shines through. Hollywood, this is how you do a fight scene.

This movie is definitely going to put all the other MIs to bed. Everyone has outdone themselves based on what I’ve seen so far.

Catch MI Fallout in theaters from July 27th. Summer is going to be 🔥🔥.

Trailer 2: Mission: Impossible-Fallout

This time, they have no choice but to accept.

“When an IMF mission ends badly, the world is faced with dire consequences.

“As Ethan Hunt takes it upon himself to fulfill his original briefing, the CIA begins to question his loyalty and his motives.

“Hunt finds himself in a race against time, hunted by assassins and former allies while trying to prevent a global catastrophe.”

The new trailer for MI6 is adrenaline-filled and the cinematography is beautiful (especially those stunning Paris shots)! Ethan Hunt faces an ominous threat: August Walker is an assassin and he has been authorized to hunt Hunt down if he ever goes rogue (again) and kill him. Hahaha! As if! It’s going to be the other way around. Hunt is the craftiest agent I know, babysitter or not.

One of my favorite scenes is Hunt running into an office, smashing the window, and then hesitating a little to jump prompting Benji to ask what is he waiting for and Hunt yells, “I’M JUMPING OUT A WINDOW!” And Benji is like, “Good luck.” 😂😂The people’s reaction in the office is the best, though.

With all the comic book movies going on, MI6 feels like fresh air. But is TC sure he is not a real-life agent undercover masquerading as an actor? 🤔

My mission? To see this movie! It’s the only movie that I’ve been anticipating for this year and the only one I’ll be watching.

Tom Cruise is Pioneer of the Year!

What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. 😉

CinemaCon 2018 - Will Rogers Pioneer Of The Year Dinner Honoring Tom Cruise

Last evening, TC dominated the Paramount Presentation with tales from his upcoming film Mission: Impossible – Fallout at CinemaCon and he was honored at the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation’s 2018 Pioneer of the Year dinner. He is the second actor to receive such award. I know they said he’s the first, but I think Bob Hope received the award back in 1980. Cruise spent time on the red carpet mixing and mingling with every reporter. No reporter was left unturned!

Some lowdowns from the event:

^ TC looked great in the best color ever to exist in the face of the galaxy:

CinemaCon 2018 - Paramount Pictures Presentation Highlighting Its 2018 Summer And Beyond

^ Paramount Pictures confirmed the pre-production sequence of Top Gun and the recordings can start in July given that the movie will be opening on July 12, 2019. Eh, I’ll pass on this.

^ TC and McQuarrie showed raw footage of Cruise doing some stunts. TC did 106 jumps (from a plane) to get three usable takes that will be cut together to make a single three-minute action sequence in the film.

^ It took a year and building the largest wind tunnel in the world to prepare so we can see TC skydive out of a C-17.

^ Those lucky bastards get to see a 10-minute sequence set on the streets of only the most romantic city in the world and a new trailer!

^ Here’s a spoiler: Hunt saves August Walker (Henry Cavill) while they’re in the air.

CinemaCon 2018 - Paramount Pictures Presentation Highlighting Its 2018 Summer And Beyond

^ Cruise had to chase a stuntman falling at 200 mph in the air, re-attach an oxygen hose, and deploy his parachute — and his own — in time to not plummet to the ground. How is he still alive?

^ Cavill said he felt as if he was in “Top Gun”.

^ I am convinced that Tom Cruise is going to die doing a stunt for an action film. Pegg feels the same way, stating, “It is a daily stress going to work with him because you don’t know if you’re going to see him tomorrow.”

^ TC talks about more MIs for he’s not ready to give them up yet. Dude, no! No one wants to see Ethan Hunt in a wheelchair!

^ TC’s MI 6 co-stars were there to also recognized four decades of Hollywood success.

^ Other actors present at CinemaCon who? TC OWNED CinemaCon!

^ The honorary dinner was hosted by James Corden, they showed a reel of TC’s brilliant career and he received a standing ovation.

An event record $1.5 million was earned on the name of honoree Cruise.

^ The Pioneer of the Year Award is given to a respected member of the motion picture community whose professional leadership, service, and commitment to philanthropy is exemplary.

CinemaCon 2018 - Will Rogers Pioneer Of The Year Dinner Honoring Tom Cruise

^ Paramount needs Tom Cruise. They know this for he has brought in the majority of their earnings and they’re depending on MI6 to bring their studio back to its former glory.

^ While listening to his speech, I concur that TC has a beautiful voice. It’s so soothing that I can listen to him drone about nothing all day and still pay attention. He should consider doing audio novels. Anyways, congrats man! 👏

Trailer: Mission: Impossible – Fallout

The first look at Mission: Impossible – Fallout trailer is here and it’s AMAZING! Rebecca Ferguson is back and so is Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames. Henry Cavill is rocking the mustache and he’s portraying a character who goes by the awesome name of August Walker. I am hoping that he’ll prove me wrong for he’s so wooden as an actor. Angela Bassett is also looking good in her role.

And Tom Cruise is back with the crazy stunts.

So I just watched the heart-stopping action trailer, and I don’t know where to begin. I’ll start here:

“Your mission, should you choose to accept it. I wonder… did you ever choose not to?”

Chills, child! Chills! That’s a killer dialogue right there! We have fist fights, motorcycle chases, and a helicopter chase. Yes, because Tom was looking for a way to kill himself so he decides to up the ante by performing a death-defying stunt by hanging off the side of a moving helicopter.

I want to talk a little about the August Walker character. In one scene, he points out that Hunt has been betrayed by his own government numerous times, and asks how long will a man like Hunt has had enough. In another scene, Walker is seen helping Hunt take down a bad guy, but then in another, he’s chasing down Hunt with a helicopter, which begs the question: friend or villain? Walker is a cold villain.

I believe that this MI is going to be the biggest for Tom; I also hope that it’ll be the last chapter of this fantastic spy-fi for it’s time to retire Ethan Hunt. Who am I kidding? TC’s going to push it until he’s in a wheelchair.
