Birthday lunch

I’ve always wanted to go to TGI Fridays on a Friday, so it’ll be more authentic and God made it happen this year… on a Friday as you can tell from the entry date. It was a blessed experience in the company of loved ones. The atmosphere was great, the menu terrific and if something wasn’t to our fancy on the menu, our host Joshua assured us that it’ll be made.

Joshua was part of our wonderful experience! He was warm, friendly, and everything a host should be in the hospitality industry. Although the food was super delicious, Joshua is the main reason we’ll be returning to the establishment.

Here are some of the delicious food we enjoyed:

My sister Denisia kicked things off with this refreshing triple berry (strawberry, raspberry, & blackberry) smoothie.

Leiya & Denisia had the signature burger.

My other sister Denise had this yummy pasta!

Tams & I had this deliciously loaded buffalo chicken fries topped with green onions and shaved celery. The bleu cheese was a yummy touch!

Denisia had the pineapple rum cheesecake for dessert.

From another angle.

Tams had a brownie covered in chocolate fudge sauce, caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream (yum!) and chopped nuts.

***All of these photos were taken by Leiya, our beautiful sister in Christ. She was adamant that she took as many photos as she could. I asked her permission to upload these photos and to also put the logo on them. There was also birthday ice cream, but that photo didn’t make the final cut.

May 15th: Memories for sale

On a weekend road trip, far away from home, you stumble upon a garage sale in a neighborhood you’re passing through. Astonished, you find an object among the belongings for sale that you recognize. Tell us about it.

A small stuffed brown bunny with a loose pink nose. It was given to be by my little sister and I’ve cherished it ever since (and I don’t like stuff toys!).

January 14th: Ripped from the headlines

Head to your favorite online news source. Pick an article with a headline that grabs you. Now, write a short story based on the article.

My go-to online news source is Daily Mail and this is the headline I chose:

Wife fighting dementia aged just 39 plans road trip so she can make memories with her husband before hers are ‘taken away’.

Wife fighting dementia

Short Story #9

That was all she had now.

Even on days when she looked at them and couldn’t recall a certain captured moment, she was grateful to have them. Sometimes there were days when she remembered her old life. The one where she skied on the French Alps or danced to flamenco music in Seville. The one where she was daring, outgoing, and willing to socialize.

Those days were gone, but she still had her pictures.

That was all she had now.

He drinks to forget…
…the way her lips used to taste against his,
how her hips swayed in his hands,
how their hearts beat in time.

He drinks to forget…
…the reason why he said ‘I love you’
only to turn around and break that promise
only to ruin her soul.

He drinks to forget…
…his past, thoughts seldom on the present
the future far off,
but the memory of her mercilessly haunts him.

He drinks to forget,
what could have been
what would have been
what should have been!

I do miss my best friend. We could tell each other anything. Can't believe it's been a year since we have talked. Hope you see this...:

The moment she met his eyes across the room, memories came flooding back in quick powerful successions overwhelming her senses.

Lazy Sunday mornings talking on the phone to each other. Slow walks on the beach hand in hand. Sweet-tongued promises of a future together. Shared cold treat at the local coffee shop. Stolen kisses when no one was looking.

She walked away when it looked like he was going to approach her. Those things were in the past now, and she did not want to be reminded of what could’ve been by his touch on her skin.

I could barely keep my eyes awake as I try to come up with words for this beautiful word. I’ll try to catch up this weekend. I need to sleep. I’m sorry it couldn’t be better.
