Is it okay to tell a lie?

The lyrics of “Little Lies” by Fleetwood Mac comes to mind as I penned the title down. You know, that song where the singer begs to be told sweet little lies?

Tell me lies
Tell me sweet little lies
(Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you can’t disguise
(You can’t disguise, no you can’t disguise)

If love is unrequited, then why would you beg to be told that you’re loved when you’re not? Does being deceived makes you happy? Unfortunately, some of us just roll with it even though we know it’s wrong to hold onto false hopes.

The Bible on lies:

In the Bible, we clearly see that lying is a sin and yes, very displeasing to God. In the Ten Commandments, we are warned to not bear false witness against our neighbors (Exodus 20:16) for lying lips are an abomination to the Lord (Proverbs 12:22). If you go way back to when sin first entered the world, it was based on a lie told to Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:4). Ananias and Sapphira got called out for lying to the Holy Spirit in Acts 5:3.

There are a few instances in the Bible where white lies are told to save lives (see Exodus 1:15-21 & Joshua 2:5), but nowhere in the Bible does God gave His approval of these lies.

Nowhere in the Bible praises lies for saving lives

God expects His children to follow Him in truth (John 14:6) for He never lies (Titus 1:2) and liars will be among those judged at the end (Revelation 21:8).

Putting away lies no matter how small they are cause us to have healthy and truthful relationships with our neighbors

Some lies we hear every day:

* When you’re asked “Do you have any questions?” and you answer no when in fact you may have lots of questions. Don’t feign ignorant knowledge. Even if you have to ask the same question 3 times until you have the right answer or to know that you’re carrying out your work accordingly, do it.

When your friend invites you to a little get-together, and you lie about having something at church or at home. Own your truth. If you don’t feel like attending, say so.

* When Youtubers tell you that they’re putting 1000 donuts in a pool when in reality, it’s like 800. Youtubers think it’s okay to exaggerate numbers, but it’s click bait and not to mention, a lie at the end of the day. If you’re going to put 1000 donuts in the pool, I want to see 1000 donuts.

* When someone gets caught in a lie and they try to justify it by asking you to stop hating and try to reason with their lie in the first place.

I’ve told white lies over the years to cover my tracks, but in the end, I’ve come to realize that even little white lies are wrong, no matter how sweet they may taste.

Remember, the devil is the father of lies (John 8:44). We worship God in truth so it’s obvious that honestly is the best policy regardless of the situation.

CRFT snippet #1: In my feelings

Thanks to Kage of RLyis for this lovely cover

The following is unedited and all grammatical errors are mine:

Ramses Alexander Page III looks back and forth between Marcus and the identical mirror twin Ray, an idea forming in his mind. There was a theory he wanted to test ever since he read about it in the science journals and here, was a pair of twins that unknowingly presented themselves for the opportunity.

“Salut!” he enthusiastically greeted Ray as the Auburn head teen sat down to lunch at their favorite table in the spacious cafeteria. It took a while to learn how to tell the twins apart although sometimes it was still hard especially when they were wearing identical expressions. “How’s Romance Lit club?”

Ray genuinely smiles. “I am happy with the last turn out. This week we’ll be looking at Pablo Neruda’s work.” he looked at the Egyptian-Greek with earnest. “Would you like to join?”

“Poetry is not my thing.” Ramses realized that Marcus was wrapping up his pep talk with the football team of which he was the captain of. He had to move fast. “So, I read something interesting about identical twins.” When he had Ray’s curious attention, he asked, “If I were to hit you, would Marc feel it?”

“No, it doesn’t work that way. I… hey!” Ray cried out as Ramses slaps him on the arm just as Marcus proceeds to sit.

“You didn’t feel that?” Ramses asked the ever-scowling twin.

“Feel what?” Marcus gruffly asks tearing into the beef sandwich.

Ramses shrugs and ate lunch with his buddies in silence wondering how to finish carrying out his theory without Marcus killing him. He closed his aquamarine eyes, count to ten and swiftly kicks Marcus in the shin. The result was instant. The twins let out a howl of pain and automatically reached for the offended area at the same time. As they were facing each other, it looked like they were mirroring each other.

“So that’s what they meant by mirror identical!” Ramses mused out loud. “And now that I have the answer to my theory, I shall be on my way.” He makes to get up, but Marcus grabs him by the lapel of his school jacket and yanks him back down in the chair just as Ray starts ranting about painful shins.

“What is wrong with you? Do you know that the tibia is protected by a thin layer of skin? That actually hurt, you idiot!”

“You hurt my brother, you pay,” Marcus sneers.

“But I kicked you, not Ray!”

Myth or Fact: Do twins share each other’s pain?

Although this has been proven as fiction by TONS of experiments conducted over the years, there are some accounts of identical twins who have felt each other’s pain. Sally Keeble felt her identical twin sister’s labor pains and it wasn’t a walk in the park for her. Identical twins Angela King and Elena Gatt also insisted that they share each other’s pain ranging from accidents to morning sickness. When Angela was 8, she had her tonsils removed. Meanwhile, Elena was unaware and stayed with her grandmother screamed at the exact moment Angela’s tonsils were removed.

Science can’t explain everything nor was everything meant to be explained when it comes to identical twins and their feelings. A twin connection is simply unique to that of a normal sibling.

That’s a wrap!: Favorite YouTube videos for April

Here again for another YouTube wrap up! 😃 Well, actually, it’s not going to be much as I did not watch many videos this month. 😄

My favorite Booktuber reacts to bookish memes!

And it’s so me! 👍

Favorite twins rescue baby bears!

This was perhaps, the cutest video I’ve seen for the year! Also, them boys need to start locking their doors. They’re living out in the wilderness and although it’s great to be surrounded by nature, one still needs to be careful.

When the book nerd knows more than the bookstore employee

Pretty accurate! And it happens over the phone as well. I called my favorite bookstore earlier this year to inquire about a book and the employees didn’t know anything about the book so I had to direct them to their YA section which they didn’t know they had. We need people who are passionate about books to work at the bookstores!

Lucas and Marcus play hide and seek… at Walmart?

First, the title was clickbait because they did not get kicked out of Walmart. As if the store is going to kick them out when they’ll be bringing the customers! And they didn’t really play hide and seek, but this video was their best I’ve seen in a while. It reminded me of their old stuff.

My last Liebster Award

I am always late for these things. 😒

Aubrey of Real Life nominated me for the Liebster Award since January and I am now getting to it. Aubrey is such a beautiful soul! She blogs about family life, fun projects, and she draws really well. Stop in sometime to partake in her blog. 😄

This is going to be the very last time that I’ll be accepting this award so let’s do this.

1. If your house was burning down, and your entire family was completely safe and you had the essentials that you need in life, what is one thing that you would grab to save from the house?

The Holy Bible. Speaking of the Bible, I remember watching a recommended news clip on YouTube in which a woman’s house burned entirely to the ground and everything in it save the Bible. It reminded me of heaven and earth passing away, but never His Word (Luke 21:33).

2. Pranks? Yes or no?

I don’t like or pull them, but I enjoy watching the harmless and good-natured ones that the Dobre twins pull.

7. What is your favorite genre of books and movies?

Mystery, thrillers and real-life crime are my favorite genre of books. As for movies, I don’t care for it anymore, but I liked action films (not hardcore ones such as John Wick, though!).

Well, it’s that time again. I normally list the videos in the order I watch them, so let’s see what gold I struck this month. 😃

Best prank ever?

I’ll be the first to admit that I dislike pranks, but when the Dobre twins are out there pulling pranks on one another, I tend to find it amusing because their pranks are mostly harmless. However, Lucas pranked his twin into thinking that he was missing (some bad acting on some of the actors’ part in my opinion), but when Marcus got him back, he almost lost his marbles. I know you don’t mess with a man’s car because that’s their baby, wifey, girlfriend, babe etc., but this prank was EPIC! Lucas 1 Marcus 100.

Testing our detective skills! 🔎

Tammy and I put our detective skills to the test with this Bright Side riddle package and got 6 out of 10 right. We’re still salty about the one where the snorkeler died in the forest. 😒

3 Marker Challenge with my favorite twins

I enjoyed watching this video for it made me smile. Demi won the first round, Lucas the second and Marcus the third. Little Alex is not good at coloring and he’s a spoiled crybaby. I dislike seeing him feature in the twins’ videos sometimes because he’s super annoying and not a good team player. Marcus is good with girls (on two occasions he told his brothers not to forget the flowers and he’s good at choosing flowers too. I guess he knows what girls like 😆) and he’s good with children. I hope he finds someone special one day for he’s so precious.

Thank you, Hayley!

Hayley has been an immense blessing and I pray that the good Lord will continue to bless and use her for His glory. I have to catch up on her blog, but I smile whenever I get a YT notification from her. 🙂

Strange wedding traditions around the world

Although I already knew a few of these traditions, this video was interesting, to say the least.

Favorite YouTube videos of the month!

YASSS! New monthly category!

I may have mentioned this in earlier posts that I frequent YouTube a lot, not for music videos, but for interesting, fun, and learning content. I’ve subscribed to some awesome channels and thought I’d share a few of the videos I’ve enjoyed for the month.

Twins teach their 21-year-old best friend to ride a bike

If it’s one channel that I’ve come to love over on YT, it’s Lucas and Marcus. The Dobre twins always try to make family-friendly oriented content even when pulling softcore pranks on their brothers and parents.

Anyways, earlier this month, the twins taught their cameraman and best friend, Steve, how to ride a bike. It was a really nice experience for Steve who mastered the art of bike riding by the end of the video.

Surprise, Marcus!

The twins turned 19 on Sunday and Lucas attempted to surprise his twin with a birthday party at their parents’ gym. Was it the best birthday party ever? I don’t know, but Marcus was sure appreciative of the gesture.

Reading books is amazing

One of my favorite BookTubers, Jesse lists 30 things that he loves about reading books. I might have identified with many, if not all of them.

Epic intro!

James Patterson pulls no punches when it comes to promoting/marketing his books and this 31-second clip of him entering a stadium to plug the book is amazing!

This video is from September last, but I only discovered their channel this month (YouTube recommended it) and I like it! In this clip, there are 7 mysteries that only 5% can solve. Do you have what it takes? Then watch the clip and play along.

And that’s a wrap! 😃

Here’s a dose of Positive Monday!

This year, we’re going to let go and allow God. We’re going to leave behind what isn’t good for us and we’re going to make a promise to make time for ourselves whenever life starts crowding us. We’re going to put God first and hold onto the positives emptying the negatives from our lives.

May your 2018 be epic! God bless.

Positive Monday: God is like oxygen

We don’t see oxygen, yet, we trust that it’s there when we breathe. It’s like faith. Faith is belief with strong conviction. It is trust, assurance, and confidence in things not seen. I haven’t seen God face to face, but I trust Him with my life. He may not be visible to us, but His works surely are. All you have to do is look around.

Image result for gif nature

Just as we put our trust/faith in someone/something, I don’t have to see God to know that He is there, guiding me along life’s winding path. My faith I place in Him completely and He has never let me down. He is the air that I breathe.

I trust that you’re having a blessed Monday! ❤

Tell a hater later!

Tackling cyberbullying.

WE Day is an annual youth event that celebrates everyday heroes. This year, it was held on September 20th and although many issues were tackled, I was interested in the #LaterHaters campaign because they were tackling online bullying. So it was a pleasant surprise when I saw these boys repping the campaign.

But I was disappointed because enough light was not shed on cyberbullying. Pre-teens and teenagers are not the only victims of cyberbullying; adults also suffer from this electronic type abuse, but the media tends to focus on the teens.

What is cyberbullying?

Related image

Cyberbullying takes place by the unfair usage of electronic technology to humiliate, target, threaten, embarrass or harass someone. Electronic technology may include devices such as computers, tablets and cell phones. Cyberbullies can also use communication tools such as websites, social media and text messages.

Here are a few examples of cyberbullying:

Impersonation: This is the act of taking someone else’s identity for the purpose of damaging the person’s reputation. Some impersonators carry the act further by creating a false online profile.

Cyberstalking: The use of electronic communications to persistently harass someone. Simply put, this is online stalking. The person receiving the threatening messages may eventually begin to question his/her safety and even mental being.

Proxy attacks: These kinds of attacks happen when the bully install a proxy onto the victim’s computer. The bully will then be able to access the victim’s information through the proxy; they’ll then use this information to threaten, humiliate and sometimes even blackmail the victim.

Photos: Bullies tend to upload private/embarrassing images of their victims on the internet to humiliate them. The images may be altered/photoshopped to embarrass the victim. I’ll also advise teenagers to not send nudes online to anyone.

It does not matter the example, the bully’s main aim is to torment the victim making his/her life miserable for the fun of it.

Later Haters!! Don’t let online trolls stop you from making the difference you know you can make.

But is it that simple? Cyberbullying can hurt as much as physical bullying for most people that are bullied online are also bullied in real life. This can cause the victim to become traumatized, have lower self-esteem, turn to alcohol and drugs, question their mental health, and in some cases, even take their lives.

You might ask what causes a human being to do this cruel act to another human being. Well, most of these bullies are insecure and in harming someone else’s life for the fun of it makes them feel superior. There may not always be a reason for cyberbullying.

How to prevent/stop cyberbullying?

Related image

While cyberbullying is not going to go away anytime soon, there are ways you can prevent being bullied online.

* Don’t empower a bully. By responding to bullies, you empower them because your reaction is exactly what they want.

* Block the bully. If you’re using platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, or even a blog, use the security settings or privacy tools to block the person. Change your account settings by making sure you don’t reveal your address and phone number. If you think someone is impersonating you, create a new account and notify your friends and family.

* Save the evidence. Yes, this means every text message, email and even fake profile account/s in your name. Make sure to file and record the time and date each message was sent just in case you have to go to the police.

* If you’re a child or a teenager, do not be afraid to ask for help. Go to someone you can trust (parents, older siblings, teacher, school counselor etc.) and ask them for help.

* Don’t become a cyberbully. If you witness your friend/s teasing someone online, ask them to stop and let them know that cyberbullying has the same consequences as bullying someone in person. Do not distribute photos or videos of someone that is considered humiliating or could be used against the person.

*** I finally got around to working on the Social Media topics, but I’ll try to have all posted by November God’s willing, though. I wanted to write more about cyberbullying, but I did not want it too chatty.

Disclaimer: I am not saying that you shouldn’t use social media because there are many good things that you can reap from it, but use it wisely and thoughtfully.

Positive Monday: take it not for granted

Good morning everyone! Well, it’s afternoon now. I’ve been trying to get this post up all morning, but it didn’t work out. Anyway…

Yes, today is the day that you should’ve woken up and go…

Being alive is a wonderful gift because every day that we get to breathe is an opportunity to get closer to our Lord and Maker and…

Don’t ever take being alive for granted. Each and every one of us is fighting a battle out here, but being alive is certainly a blessing. You should always have this mindset whenever you greet the day and people.

And never forget to thank Him for equipping you with the strength that you needed to get through another day.

Enjoy the rest of your Monday.
