A favorite fantasy movie

DAY 2

WARNING: GIF overdose.

I liked a few fantasy movies back when I was an indulgent moviegoer.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

I literally KILLED this movie when it came out! Elijah Wood was all the rage as Frodo Baggins. He played the hobbit role to a perfect T. I also liked Liv Tyler as Arwen (to think they wanted to originally cast Uma Thurman!), I thought Orlando Bloom as Legolas was cute (Bloom is just cute in general & it didn’t help that he was a skilled archer. I admire archers!) and I LOVED Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen). To think that Nicolas Cage was considered for the role of Aragorn!  Vin Diesel is a huge fan of the book and he had also auditioned for the role. I’m just glad it went to Viggo all thanks to his persuasive son.

Avatar (2009)

*sighs* Another film I liked. Zoe Saldana was wickedly brilliant as Neytiri. I liked the fact that the Na’vi race was blue given that it’s my favorite color, but I don’t think I can watch this movie presently.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

The story of an uncommonly gentleman, this romantic dark fantasy film put Johnny Depp on the map as an eccentric actor. Depp freakishly killed this Edward role. I watched it multiple times before calling ‘meh’ on it.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)

I literally OVERDOSED on Captain Jack Sparrow! This movie brought Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom together and it was a wonderful swashbuckling fantasy.

“This is the day that you will always remember as the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow.”

Captain Jack Sparrow is a lying, cheating, filthy, drunk swaying flamboyant pirate and at the time of the film’s release, I thought this movie was utmost perfection simply because of Johnny Depp. The kohl-wearing witty Jack Sparrow was quite attractive to look at.

The second factor? Orlando Bloom as pretty boy Will Turner, a blacksmith turned pirate. Boy was a bit dense, but he outsmarted Sparrow in the end.

British actors are not my cup of tea, but Orlando Bloom is one I like. I couldn’t even stand to watch Keira Knightley as Miss Swan. Whenever I see KK, it’s like watching paint dry. Had it not been for Jack & Will!

But sassy Jack will never be topped because…

…and…
