Day 1: Your blog’s name

I wanted to include as many stickers as possible; I don’t know why and I know it’s somewhat childish, but I dig it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay, so the name of my blog is La Petit Muse. I probably told the story behind the name a few times and this is going to be the last time that I tell it, so listen up real good.

I discovered WordPress at a time when I wanted to talk about football… wait, wrong story. Right. So, when I first signed up for this account, I wanted the word ‘muse’ in it (to reflect my writing) and I also wanted the name to sound somewhat Frenchy (to reflect my love of the French language). I came up with La Petite Muse because it’s proper French and it’s feminine, but nooooo, WordPress told me that it was already taken. I have no idea what or who La Petite Muse is for I’ve tried searching for it and nothing.ย

You lied to me, WordPress! How could you? I had toย butcherย the French language in order to come up with La Petit Muse. Now, here is where French comes in handy when talking about the blog title no matter how much I butchered the people’s language (as I do the English one at times all in the name of creativity). So, the word ‘petit’ can also mean simple, petty or insignificant where it concerns the law, so I like to translate my title as The Insignificant Muse or even The Petty Muse. ๐Ÿ˜œ

French people will disagree…

…but what’s done is done. Sorry, Frenchies. ๐Ÿ˜ข

I should check and see if La Petite Muse is available now, but I’m already accustomed to Petit. And that, ladies and gentlemen,ย isย how I got my blog name.ย

This is where I take some time off

Hey, it’s that time already. March is here. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I don’t know about you, but February went by slowly. March is here now and I look forward to what this month may bring… besides the books I’m planning to read of course! This is also the month in which I’ll be seeing less of WordPress, although I’ve started to distance myself from blogging late last month. I’m also slow in visiting blogs I follow.ย But fear not!ย I’ve scheduled enough posts and I’ll be popping in twice a week or so to catch up with blogs.

The future of La Petit Muse?

Well, at the moment, I can’t really say, but I’ll be continuing the Bible study series from next Sabbath God’s willing. Maybe I’ll share some of the stories I’m currently working on just for the fun of it. I also have some tags that I want to complete this month, so might as well do that along with some book reviews. Also, I aim to complete those long overdue social mediaย articles! I dislike it when I start something and never finish it. ๐Ÿ˜†

How long is this ‘break’ going to continue for? I don’t know, but I’ll be around.

Somehow, this month’s challenge ties into my current blogging situation.ย

Looking at it now, it’s kind of eh, but I’ll see how best I can complete this challenge.

Blessed mars to all.

La Petit Muse: a look back at 2017

Image result for bonjour gif

I trust that you’re having a fantastic Sunday morning thus far! And if you’re not, there’s always coffee to cheer you up. ๐Ÿ™‚

I meant to look back at 2017 last week blogging wise, but I just didn’t get around to doing it. 2017 was a blast for me. It was not my best year yet, for I believe that I’ve just started it and it’s going to be epic, but it was an awesome one! I met and made many friends here, picked up a new language (we’ll go into details at some point), grew closer to Christ, read many books, celebrated a few milestones and started posting on Wattpad among other achievements. Some were small, some were big, some were in between, some didn’t happen at all, but I am thankful for every achievement.ย

2017 ended on a fairly positive note for me and I am utmost grateful to God for allowing me to experience both highs and lows. Through everything, I feel as if I have somewhat grown and it feels great!

So, beginning this week (and probably for the rest of janvier), I’ll be looking back at my favorite blog posts from last year and sharing them. I have no idea if I’ll do it month by month, by categories, or just randomly, but it’s going to be fun, so join me for a year in review? Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday. I’m just going to lay low and relax today.

Upcoming stuff!

Hello, dolls and gentlemen! I’ve always wanted to say that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have so many ideas that I’ll like to share with you that I don’t know where to begin. I am currentlyย putting plans in order toย fly, but I have some free time on my hands and I’ll like to see how best I can keep up with the blog as I prepare to begin a new chapter in my life.ย

Sometimes when I’m working on a post, an idea may spring forth, and I leave the post that I’m working on to work on the new one hence the reason why so many posts end up in my drafts. Then I feel bad about wanting to post them all and wait for the perfect timing because I can end up posting 6-8 posts (give or take) a day. However, those days are over. I’ve decided to just post. I apologize in advance for flooding your reader.

I’ve been looking around the blog and I think it can do with a ‘blog lift’, but for now, I like what I’m seeing. A few upcoming stuff:

^ I’ve been looking at some of the categories and I think they need a boost, so I’ll see how best I can fulfill this on a weekly basis.

^ย La Petit Muse is about to become a learning zone. I’ll still have the normal everyday topics, but I want to talk more about writing (as a writer), go back to basic English and maybe introduce French as I continue to fall more in love with this beautiful language. This would take some time, though.ย

^ Notes. Yes, my notes. I come across two little pocket notebooks filled with notes that I’ve scribbled in my haste for a later story or character trait and never came back to them. But, there’s still life in them yet and I’ve decided to share them here and on Instagram.

^ Fun stuff! I am looking at ways to communicate more with my readers (forgive me, I just dislike saying, followers) and I hope to accomplish this with a series-like content that has been sitting in drafts and gathering dust for the longest while.

That’s basically it for now. Happy Friday, everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

Playing catch up!

Whoa is right! I am looking around here and wondering when did I get so swamped in many things that I have no time to log on, post, or comment on blogs?

On top of that, my laptop has decided to join the party to complicate things. I’m taking it to my IT guy tomorrow God’s willing. In the meantime, while I’m here, I think I’ll have a quick look around.ย

If I don’t get to your blog today, have no fear I’ll try to get to it before the week is out.

Why do you blog?

When I first started La Petit Muse I wanted to motivate fellow amateur writers like myself, but things have taken quite an interesting turn and I am just following along.ย

Fess-up Friday: The story behind the name ‘La Petit Muse’

Image result for Petit

So, I have a story to tell…

Image result for eyes wide shut gif

I was recently asked why ‘petit’ instead of ‘petite’ given that I am a Francophile. Yes, I know I should know these things and trust me, I know these things. However, when I was signing up for this account, WordPress told me that ‘La Petite Muse’ was taken (URL), but ‘La Petit Muse’ was available, so I took it and the rest was history. I like the title of my blog to be the same as the URL so I kept ‘petit’.

I recently Googled ‘La Petit Muse’ and came across a fashion Tumblr of the same name and spelling.

The word petit actually means small, minor, insignificant or petty where the law is concerned in France. It is also a very common surname there. And guess what? I love the law too, so it worked out fine in the end. Although I am ‘butchering’ the language, I translate La Petit Muse to The Insignificant Muse. Blame my writing imagination, but I really like it. ๐Ÿ˜Š
