Writing Tag!✍

So, Grace over at Following Him Beside Still Waters nominated me to do this tag some months ago (try January) and I completely slept on it. I can never get around to completing tags in a timely manner, but I thank Grace for the nomination and I’m here for it, but first…

I don’t really write anymore. I still enjoy it from time to time, but I don’t devote my energy to it as before. However, I’ll be doing this tag with my serial Crazy Rich French Twins given that I don’t have much writing material as before to choose from. This serial is still in its planning stages, but I’ll try to feature an episode for Short Story Sunday soon. I am also contemplating on entering it for this year’s NaNoWriMo.

1. A crazy hacker’s gone into your computer and has deleted all of your music, except for one song off of your writing playlist. Which song is it?

I don’t have a playlist for CRFT, but if one song had to remain it’ll be ‘Oubliez Moi’ by Ridsa. It fits perfectly given that the story is set in France.

2. Your protagonist and antagonist have been paired up by friends to go out to lunch together. Where do they go?

CRFT shares two protagonists who are supa dupa mirror identical twins so good luck identifying who is who.

The twins are practically one so they’ll go out with Jean-Pierre Papin at Ladurée in the Champs Elysées…

…and maybe leave with some tasty macarons. Kudos to Ladurée for inventing this tasty treat.

3. You’re crossing a bridge when the troll living under it stops you. He demands to read a chapter from your novel, and won’t let you cross otherwise. Which chapter do you give him?

The joke is on the little guy who spends his miserable life under a bridge for I don’t have any chapters as yet. Plus, I don’t need to cross the bridge by walking over it when I can simply fly over it in a helicopter.

4. Your friends have invited you out to a party. Surprise! All of your characters are there. Who do you choose to hang out with?

You won’t ever see me at parties for it’s not my thing, but it’ll have to be Ray da Díxon. He’s sunshine in a cup and a beautiful soul. He’s fascinating and his mind works like no other so I know he’ll be a blast to hang with!

5. Oh no. You left your car keys in your house, and you’ve (somehow) locked yourself out. Which of your characters picks the lock for you?

It’s okay, I’ll pick the lock myself. Oh, right, this is about the characters. How dare I pick the lock myself! This is a job for… anyone of my main characters actually.

6. The zombie apocalypse is happening right now. (It’s awful.) Everyone is fleeing the planet, and moving to Mars. ONE of your characters can go with you. Who do you choose?

I hate zombies! I won’t be choosing any character to go to Mars for we’re not cowards. We’re going to form an army and go Nick Morton on them! Flee to Mars? Please!

7. You’ve been given the opportunity to travel to one place (town, building, landmark, country) in your book. Where do you go?

It’s France! I’ll go EVERYWHERE & ANYWHERE! Loire Valley Châteaux, Palace of Versailles, Mont Saint-Michel… EVERYWHERE & ANYWHERE! I cannot just choose one place! … okay, for question’s sake, at the moment, I’ll choose the panoramic Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

Or I’ll probably stay at Villa Kerylos in Beaulieu-sur-Mer:

8. You meet your main character and start a conversation with them. Problem is, you’ve only got six words or less to do so. What do you say?

To Ray: Always be that sunshine we love. (I know its cheesy, but this is Monsieur Cheesy himself from The Most Romantic Man in the World series so it’s quite fitting.)

To Marcus: Stay true; never change for society.

9. Crazy acid rain is falling from the sky. Which of your characters would you use as an umbrella?

I’ll probably use Jean-Pierre Papin. Bastard had it coming.

10. You’re out at a restaurant with your main character, and the time has come to order dessert. What do you order for them?

For Ray: he has one of the sweetest tooth known to mankind, so a healthy slice of clafoutis.

For Marcus: every single dessert on the menu! Yes, he puts his twin to shame when it comes to consumption of food.

This was so much fun to do! I’ll love to do another fun tag such as!

Another Tattoo

Short Story #16

Whoa! I haven’t updated Short Story Sunday in a long time because I did not have the inspiration to do so. I still don’t have the inspiration to, but today’s short is an addition to the last short story I wrote call Tattoos and I’ll be free writing so forgive my grammatical errors and my French as well.

Antonio Caster was wiping down the counter and humming along to an old Spanish song when the doorbell chimes signaling that he had a new customer. With a smile, he straightens his frame, ready to greet his fifth and probably final customer of the day. However, when the tall, bald-headed man with the piercing silver-gray eyes confidently walk into his tattoo parlor, Antonio lost his smile. This man was a regular client of his and a good tipper, but one night when he tattooed the name of a fallen hitman on the Frenchman’s back, he realized that Jean-Pierre Papin was more than just a regular client.

Jean-Pierre was tattooing the names of his fallen enemies on his lower back and this made Antonio wondered if the bad man had a mild case of amnesia.

He forces his best smile when the man approached the counter. “Bonjour. How can I help you today?”

“Another name,” Jean-Pierre impatiently flings a piece of paper on the counter.

Antonio picks it up and gasp. “Isn’t this the name of your girlfriend?”

Jean-Pierre darkly looks at him.

“Right on it,” Antonio said with less enthusiasm as he led the Frenchman to the back room. “Where would you like it?”

“Same place,”

He killed her! I can’t believe he actually killed her! Antonio panic inside. And now he wants to tattoo her name alongside his enemies. Oh, Marilyn! What have you done to deserve this!

Jean-Pierre walked out of Antonio’s Ink an hour and a half later with a puzzled look on his face, his skin still stinging from the fresh ink. He did not understand why the man hesitated to ink Marilyn’s name on his skin. Was it because he was putting her name next to his enemies? He had no other choice in the matter, though.

When he returned to his Montmartre flat, freshly brewed coffee assaulted his senses causing him to gag. He hated coffee. “Do you mind?”

“Oh, you’re back!” a surprised feminine voice answered. “Désolé pour le café!

“I put up a lot for you because you’re lucky I like you a lot, Marilyn.”

Tattoos

Short Story #15

Tattoos tell stories of love, war, courage, pain, and faith. So when Marilyn discovered the tattoos on her boyfriend’s lower back as he lay on the bed motionlessly and shirtless, she smiles at the discovery and traces a curious finger over the ink. Jean-Pierre Papin flinches slightly at the contact which she dismissed as an automatic reflex.

The tattoos were names and she smiles thinking that they were perhaps names of friends or relatives as she counts the small cursive names: five in total.

“Pierre?” she called out.

The Frenchman grunts knowing what was coming next. “Hmm?”

“What are these names?”

“They’re the names of my enemies.”

She gasps and pulls her hand back as if burned by a wicked fire. “Why put those names there then?”

“They’ve done me wrong at some point in life.”

“But it doesn’t make any sense.”

Why do things always have to make sense to a woman? Jean thought before coldly confessing, “I killed them.”

A thick eerie silence blanketed the room leaving Marilyn immobilized.

Take a quote from your favorite movie — there’s the title of your post. Now, write!

At the moment I’m watching Knight & Day so I’m going to randomly choose a quote by Roy Miller (Tom Cruise) and continue the story: They’ll tell you I’m mentally unstable and violent and dangerous and it will all sound very convincing.

It’s in the eyes

Nicole’s eyes widen as she regards her gorgeous date across the table. She let out a soft gasp, suddenly afraid of what this deranged man was about to do to her. “Are you going to kill me?”

“Oui,” he simply replies, cold silver-gray eyes wickedly sparkling in the candlelight.

Her eyes were now drawn to the red wine that was sloshing around in his glass due to him teasingly tilting the glass back and forth in his hand. An omen. She had to move, but her feet wouldn’t let her. She spies the waiter taking an order to another table and wonders how to get his attention.

“Don’t,” he warns. “Or you’d be dead before he comes over here.”

*** If you’ve read Loyalty then we can call this piece an extent of the work Jean-Pierre Papin actually does. He is a French hitman and I enjoyed creating a complex character of his kind.

#MayBookPrompts Challenge: Day 13

May Book Prompts

Challenge: When You Are Engulfed In Flames

Some of the stuff I’ve been writing for the challenge this month made me laugh and some will become new stories. For this challenge, I came up with two shorts.

I am actually working on a new character. He is tough, mean, and French. I thought I’d introduce him via this challenge.

Jean-Pierre Papin doesn’t speak much. He was already a threat with his shining bald head and piercing grey stormy eyes. But he enjoys scaring the cowardly bastard whenever the opportunity presented itself. He slapped and slammed a so-call hitman against a wall and looked into his eyes. “If you don’t tell me who sent you, I’m going to make it painful for you.”

The strapped blonde laughed right in his face. “Why would I tell you?”

“You afraid of fire, John?”

The blonde gulped. How did he come about this? Who told the lunatic about his phobia?

Jean-Pierre produced a lighter from his trench coat and smirked, “Because I don’t think you’ll rather tell me when you’re engulfed in flames.”

And I don’t know where this one came from (it makes no sense!), but…

You’ll never know what it is

To love,

To live,

To lust.

To cheat,

To beat,

To lie.

Until you’re engulfed in flames.
