An Icebreaker! 🍨🍦

A new category, finally! This category will be updated on one Wednesday on selected months, if not every. It’ll be like a coffee meet-up of sorts for us to get to know each other, but not personally of course. 

The banner is subject to change. It was just something I hastily threw together because I liked the colors and wanted to use it as a graphic design. I had another design planned since last year, but at the last minute, I scrapped it. Anyways, on to the icebreaker.

Based on the emoticons or the ice-cold treats that the penguins are holding, I guess you might’ve already guessed what the question is:

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

My all-time favorite is vanilla, but I’m open to trying other flavors such as banana, pistachio, and cookies and cream. 😋

Lawlessness: A young woman decided to have some fun by licking a tub of ice cream and placing the Blue Bell container back on the shelf. She was identified by police and would’ve faced up to 20 years in jail and a $10,000 fine for tampering with food had she not been seventeen. She is not the only one. A 36-year-old man in Louisiana was also charged for licking a tub of Blue Bell ice cream and putting it back on the shelf. When the police came to arrest him, he said that he only wanted to be “famous”.

I have no idea why ice cream, but this so-call #IceCreamChallenge is getting out of hand. 

As if one health hazard is not enough, this decent human being decided to go to Walmart, gargle Listerine, spit it back into the bottle and return it to the shelf! 

I am not okay with this disgusting challenge. You cannot just walk into a store and pick up a product, tamper with it and place it back on the shelf for unsuspecting consumers to purchase. Even if this challenge is staged, it is disgusting behavior. This selfish entitled generation is so starved for attention that they’ll do anything to be the center of it. This is what happens when we live in a godless do what thou wilt society.

And if that’s not enough, last year, a YouTuber from Barcelona pranked a homeless man by giving him toothpaste-fill Oreos. This same YouTuber (Kanghua Ren aka ReSet) is also accused of filling sandwiches with cat feces and offering them to children and the elderly. He has since been sentenced to 15 months in prison and fined $22,300.

We’re living in the days of Noah and Revelation. All that God said will come to pass has/is coming to pass before our very eyes every day. Please keep this corrupted world in your prayers for there are many souls yet to come to repentance. 

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Fall for food!

Via cuisinart.com here is a nice recipe for Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream.

INGREDIENTS

1-1/2 cups whole milk
1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses or dark corn syrup
1-3/4 cups pumpkin purée (solid pack pumpkin)
1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
2-1/2 cups heavy cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup crumbled ginger snaps, vanilla butter cookies, or graham crackers

INSTRUCTIONS

* In a medium mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed to combine the milk, brown sugar, and molasses until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the pumpkin purée, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
* Add heavy cream and vanilla. Turn the machine on; pour the mixture into freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes. Add the crumbled cookies during the last 5 minutes of mixing. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours.
* Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.

National Vanilla Ice Cream Day!

I don’t know why I do this, but I think it’s kind of fun.

It’s National Vanilla Ice Cream Day!

Vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor.

There is no actual history behind this day, but one can celebrate by eating vanilla ice cream. Kind of the point isn’t it?

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

YUMMY!

It’s National Ice Cream Day! You know what this means. Time to serve up some cold history.

^ The ice cream is not attributed to a date of origin or an inventor that we can trace back. (I wish I could lay claims to inventing it then!)

^ But the Chinese are credited (generally) for creating the first ice cream as early as 3000 BC. How did it reach Europe?

^ Marco Polo is often cited as the man who introduced ice cream to Italy. The Italians perfected the method and the ice cream we enjoy today is credited to them. (We are forever in your debt.)

However, the French get credit for introducing the sweet treat throughout Europe. C’est la vie!

^ You do notice when it comes to food history, the French are right around the corner right? It’s like they were always waiting to perfect a method and introduce it to the world.

^ But let’s give Catherine de’Medici some credit too. When this lady married Henry II of France, she brought some Italian chefs with her. Not just any chefs, mind you. These chefs were said to have had recipes for flavored ice. 

The first recipe for flavored ice appeared in French in 1674. God bless the French!

^ This is random, but I want to throw it out there: Here, in Trinidad, we still have flavored ice. No, it’s not sorbet, but snow cone. Which is a weird name for a cold treat because we never experience snow.

Whatever the history, I’m glad we have ice cream. So many flavors to choose from, but I remain loyal to vanilla, which happens to be the most popular flavor.
