Is it okay to tell a lie?

The lyrics of “Little Lies” by Fleetwood Mac comes to mind as I penned the title down. You know, that song where the singer begs to be told sweet little lies?

(Tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)
Oh, no, no you can’t disguise
(You can’t disguise, no you can’t disguise)

If love is unrequited, then why would you beg to be told that you’re loved when you’re not? Does being deceived makes you happy? Unfortunately, some of us just roll with it even though we know it’s wrong to hold onto false hopes.

The Bible on lies:

In the Bible, we clearly see that lying is a sin and yes, very displeasing to God. In the Ten Commandments, we are warned to not bear false witness against our neighbors (Exodus 20:16) for lying lips are an abomination to the Lord (Proverbs 12:22). If you go way back to when sin first entered the world, it was based on a lie told to Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:4). Ananias and Sapphira got called out for lying to the Holy Spirit in Acts 5:3.

There are a few instances in the Bible where white lies are told to save lives (see Exodus 1:15-21 & Joshua 2:5), but nowhere in the Bible does God gave His approval of these lies.

Nowhere in the Bible praises lies for saving lives.  

God expects His children to follow Him in truth (John 14:6) for He never lies (Titus 1:2) and liars will be among those judged at the end (Revelation 21:8). 

Putting away lies no matter how small they are cause us to have healthy and truthful relationships with our neighbors. 

Some lies we hear every day:

* When you’re asked “Do you have any questions?” and you answer no when in fact you may have lots of questions. Don’t feign ignorant knowledge. Even if you have to ask the same question 3 times until you have the right answer or to know that you’re carrying out your work accordingly, do it. 

* When your friend invites you to a little get-together, and you lie about having something at church or at home. Own your truth. If you don’t feel like attending, say so.

* When Youtubers tell you that they’re putting 1000 donuts in a pool when in reality, it’s like 800. Youtubers think it’s okay to exaggerate numbers, but it’s click bait and not to mention, a lie at the end of the day. If you’re going to put 1000 donuts in the pool, I want to see 1000 donuts.

* When someone gets caught in a lie and they try to justify it by asking you to stop hating and try to reason with their lie in the first place.

I’ve told white lies over the years to cover my tracks, but in the end, I’ve come to realize that even little white lies are wrong, no matter how sweet they may taste.

Remember, the devil is the father of lies (John 8:44). We worship God in truth so it’s obvious that honestly is the best policy regardless of the situation.

Favorite YouTube videos for March

Well, it’s that time again. I normally list the videos in the order I watch them, so let’s see what gold I struck this month. 😃

Best prank ever? 

I’ll be the first to admit that I dislike pranks, but when the Dobre twins are out there pulling pranks on one another, I tend to find it amusing because their pranks are mostly harmless. However, Lucas pranked his twin into thinking that he was missing (some bad acting on some of the actors’ part in my opinion), but when Marcus got him back, he almost lost his marbles. I know you don’t mess with a man’s car because that’s their baby, wifey, girlfriend, babe etc., but this prank was EPIC! Lucas 1 Marcus 100.

Testing our detective skills! 🔎

Tammy and I put our detective skills to the test with this Bright Side riddle package and got 6 out of 10 right. We’re still salty about the one where the snorkeler died in the forest. 😒

3 Marker Challenge with my favorite twins

I enjoyed watching this video for it made me smile. Demi won the first round, Lucas the second and Marcus the third. Little Alex is not good at coloring and he’s a spoiled crybaby. I dislike seeing him feature in the twins’ videos sometimes because he’s super annoying and not a good team player. Marcus is good with girls (on two occasions he told his brothers not to forget the flowers and he’s good at choosing flowers too. I guess he knows what girls like 😆) and he’s good with children. I hope he finds someone special one day for he’s so precious.

Prankster Queen is a lighthearted camp adventure featuring Jenna Bloom and her twin, Adam and older sister, Stephanie. I like summer camp books! Unfortunately, this one was stuffed with unlikable and easily forgettable characters, but the author did a good job writing the vivid scenery.

As for the pranks, I was expecting better ones given that Jenna owns the Queen of Pranks title, but they were mainly minor ones. I don’t think Jenna would be out pranking the Dobre twins anytime soon.

Next to them, she looks like an amateur. They could teach her a thing or two when it comes to pranks.

I liked Jenna’s twin, Adam. His personality simply shone throughout the story. I don’t think there was any big secret to actually reveal in the end. Jenna was only acting out because her parents were going through a divorce. It’s never easy for young children to suddenly accept the fact that they’ll be coming home to one parent after school and possibly visiting the other on a weekend. They deal with things in their own way, but I wasn’t getting this vibe from Jenna.

A good read but the author should reconsider renaming the book to Summer Camp Secrets: Annoying Jenna.

I love the design and I think it’s one of the prettiest covers I’ve seen in a while and yes, I bought this book because of the cover. This cover is a 4/5.

Thankful Thursday: World Gratitude Day!

Be grateful for every new dawn.

It’s easy to focus on the things that we don’t have and complain about it, instead of being thankful and content with the things that we do have.

I know I always say this, but I am thankful for life; that I am breathing because I did not have to wake up this morning. I am grateful for life’s little moments because with everything going on in the world right now, life is fleeting. I am grateful for my family, my friends, and my co-workers. I am eternally grateful for our Savior. My sister just brought me a small token and I am very grateful for it. ❤

Gratitude improves our lives and that’s why we should be grateful for every living moment. For me, every day is World Gratitude Day!

On the Real Tho

Hahaha! I laugh because I actually like the Dobre Brothers and this song shouldn’t have made it on the list given that I already watched the video.

I don’t know how many of you know the brothers, but they might not ring a bell because they’re not famous (as yet) and they’re actually YouTubers currently trying their voices out on the YouTube rap scene. 

Maybe I’ll just talk about the lyrics or point out how many times they do a backflip because, really, I’ve seen this video so it’s going to be hard to react to it and they’re known for doing backflips.

Also, my reactions may not be your cup of tea. It might be sarcastic and I also tear lyrics apart. Let’s react to it in 3…2…1…

Twinning is winning!

Over on YouTube, you’re either in a gang or in an army. Then there’s twinning. If you have a twin, then think about how many people you can make happy on YouTube.

People are fascinated by twins (whether identical or fraternal) and now that many of them have YouTube accounts and have amassed millions of followers, I can safely say that twinning is winning. We love to see how they interact with each other because they have that twin telepathy that we normal people don’t have… or do they? Whatever, I love twins. I think they’re awesome!

Although many twins are taking over YT, three pairs stand out for me because on almost every reaction/compilation video I watch regarding Musical.ly or Vines, people are always commenting about…

The Dolan Twins

Grayson and Ethan Dolan has amassed over four million subscribers on YT. The twins are from New Jersey and they mostly perform stunts and challenges on their channel. I can’t say much about them because I don’t know them well.

Here’s their most popular video which has over 11 million views. Grayson, I’m sorry about your wisdom teeth, but I laughed my face off.

Fun Fact: this was actually the first video I sat through of the Dolan Twins given that I don’t follow them and I enjoyed it.

The Martinez Twins

Emilio and Ivan Martinez are from Barcelona, Spain (I think. I am not quite sure). Their fan base is still growing, but they seem to be doing all right.

I have not watched any of their videos, but I’ll post their most popular video which has over six million views. In this video, Emilio pulls a prank on Ivan. And like the Dolan Twins, this is the first time I’ve watched a video from these Latin twins.

The Dobre Twins

These are my twins and they’re literally the cutest thing on YouTube! They started in the grocery store (dancing) and they were known as Twinbotz back then. Marcus and Lucas Dobre are the offsprings of former Romanian gymnast Aurelia Dobre and former Iranian gymnast Boz Mofid. 

They’re known for their backflips so we basically call them The Flipping Twins and they make me want to do backflips too. Hey, if you’re reading this and you can do backflips and front flips, you are AWESOME!

The Dobre twins have the sweetest merch ever! They’re very energetic and I like their smiles, too. Have you met their smiles?

Their most popular video has over 11 million views, but my favorite video of theirs is the 100 Layers of Pancakes one, not because I love pancakes, but because of what they did at the end of the video by giving the remainders to the homeless instead of throwing them away. Stay lit, Marcus and Lucas. Stay lit.
