Let’s talk… why do you write?

People often ask me why I write and sometimes I don’t want to answer the question because I don’t need a reason to write. I write because I enjoy it and it makes me happy. I also write because I can’t kidnap people and force them to act out my make-believe world otherwise I’ll get arrested!

Now, wouldn’t that have been a grand thing?

Joking aside, today is National Day on Writing in the USA. The National Day on Writing asks Americans to consider the role of writing in everyday life.

So why do I write? I think I answered this question on my friend Mandie Hines blog at one point, but I’ll put it here again:

I write because I want to read something that hasn’t been in print before. I write for the sheer fun of it and for the pleasure. I write because it is my passion and I express myself better with a pen in my hand. I write to get better. I write to explore my own universe. I write because it’s therapeutic and I empty my mind when I do. I write to inspire and to invoke thoughts. I write because I am in love with words.

I am not a perfect writer by any means, but I just love writing.

Let’s talk… How do you spend time with God?

Spending time with our Maker is vital.

After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,

Matthew 14:23

As believers of the Word, we have to make it a habit to spend time with God regardless of the boisterous activity that goes on in some of our lives. Even if it’s just 30 minutes or 10 minutes, get into the habit of making time to meet with Him. If you have an important meeting to attend or to hang out with friends at the mall, of course, you’ll show up, right? And on time, too.

I spend the mornings with God. I wake up super early now, so I reach to work an hour before I open and I pray, thank Him for life and play spiritual songs. Before I leave home for work, I read the Bible and look for the verse of the day to memorize. I look forward to the evenings when the sun sets, so I can come to Him in prayer and reflect on the day that I’ve had. Sometimes, I sit in silence so I can hear Him.

Over to you now.

How do you spend time with God?

Let’s talk… What are you reading?

Matthew Gray Gubler

Bibliophile – a person who has a great appreciation for or collects books.

Today is Book Lovers Day, so we’re going to celebrate books and reading!

As writers, we are encouraged to read, read, READ! If we want to be better writers, we need to read. If we want to understand our market better, we need to read. Reading is supposed to help us write better.

I simply love books!

I love holding them, looking at them as they stare back at me from my bookshelf, and this is overused and probably should retire as a cliché, but I love smelling them. Nothing like the fresh scent of a new book!

I am currently reading the Bible (when don’t I ever?). I am yet to choose another novel to read from my shelf.

I turn it over to you. Comment down below what you’re reading, would you recommend it, or what book/s you’ll like to read or is looking forward to. Happy Book Lovers Day!

Let’s talk… God!

Hello, everyone! As I’ve mentioned in an earlier post this month, I’ve been working on an interactive series for the blog. We’re not going to get into personal details about our lives. We’ll be chatting about various topics as the weeks go by, but today, I want to welcome you to ‘The Brew’. 🙂

Today, I just want to express how thankful I am to God. He has provided me with shelter, a family (although we have our ‘moments’), loving friends, a job, and life. I am thankful for waking up this morning and I am also thankful for the writing passion that He has blessed me with. He has been a driving force in my life and I love feeling His presence as I go about the day’s work.

Thank you, God. ❤

What are you guys thankful to God for?
