Writing Tag!✍

So, Grace over at Following Him Beside Still Waters nominated me to do this tag some months ago (try January) and I completely slept on it. I can never get around to completing tags in a timely manner, but I thank Grace for the nomination and I’m here for it, but first…

Image result for gif i have a confession

I don’t really write anymore. I still enjoy it from time to time, but I don’t devote my energy to it as before. However, I’ll be doing this tag with my serial Crazy Rich French Twins given that I don’t have much writing material as before to choose from. This serial is still in its planning stages, but I’ll try to feature an episode for Short Story Sunday soon. I am also contemplating on entering it for this year’s NaNoWriMo.

1. A crazy hacker’s gone into your computer and has deleted all of your music, except for one song off of your writing playlist. Which song is it?

I don’t have a playlist for CRFT, but if one song had to remain it’ll be ‘Oubliez Moi’ by Ridsa. It fits perfectly given that the story is set in France.

Image result for gif music

2. Your protagonist and antagonist have been paired up by friends to go out to lunch together. Where do they go?

CRFT shares two protagonists who are supa dupa mirror identical twins so good luck identifying who is who.

The twins are practically one so they’ll go out with Jean-Pierre Papin at Ladurée in the Champs Elysées…

…and maybe leave with some tasty macarons. Kudos to Ladurée for inventing this tasty treat.

3. You’re crossing a bridge when the troll living under it stops you. He demands to read a chapter from your novel, and won’t let you cross otherwise. Which chapter do you give him?

The joke is on the little guy who spends his miserable life under a bridge for I don’t have any chapters as yet. Plus, I don’t need to cross the bridge by walking over it when I can simply fly over it in a helicopter.

4. Your friends have invited you out to a party. Surprise! All of your characters are there. Who do you choose to hang out with?

You won’t ever see me at parties for it’s not my thing, but it’ll have to be Ray da Díxon. He’s sunshine in a cup and a beautiful soul. He’s fascinating and his mind works like no other so I know he’ll be a blast to hang with!

5. Oh no. You left your car keys in your house, and you’ve (somehow) locked yourself out. Which of your characters picks the lock for you?

It’s okay, I’ll pick the lock myself. Oh, right, this is about the characters. How dare I pick the lock myself! This is a job for… anyone of my main characters actually.

6. The zombie apocalypse is happening right now. (It’s awful.) Everyone is fleeing the planet, and moving to Mars. ONE of your characters can go with you. Who do you choose?

I hate zombies! I won’t be choosing any character to go to Mars for we’re not cowards. We’re going to form an army and go Nick Morton on them! Flee to Mars? Please!

Image result for gif the mummy nick morton

7. You’ve been given the opportunity to travel to one place (town, building, landmark, country) in your book. Where do you go?

It’s France! I’ll go EVERYWHERE & ANYWHERE! Loire Valley Châteaux, Palace of Versailles, Mont Saint-Michel… EVERYWHERE & ANYWHERE! I cannot just choose one place! … okay, for question’s sake, at the moment, I’ll choose the panoramic Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

Image result for Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Or I’ll probably stay at Villa Kerylos in Beaulieu-sur-Mer:

8. You meet your main character and start a conversation with them. Problem is, you’ve only got six words or less to do so. What do you say?

To Ray: Always be that sunshine we love. (I know its cheesy, but this is Monsieur Cheesy himself from The Most Romantic Man in the World series so it’s quite fitting.)

To Marcus: Stay true; never change for society.

9. Crazy acid rain is falling from the sky. Which of your characters would you use as an umbrella?

I’ll probably use Jean-Pierre Papin. Bastard had it coming.

Image result for gif acid rain

10. You’re out at a restaurant with your main character, and the time has come to order dessert. What do you order for them?

For Ray: he has one of the sweetest tooth known to mankind, so a healthy slice of clafoutis.

For Marcus: every single dessert on the menu! Yes, he puts his twin to shame when it comes to consumption of food.

This was so much fun to do! I’ll love to do another fun tag such as!

Teaser Tuesday: book cover creations!

I know I could’ve done better with that headline! 😒

Happy May Day!

Image result for gif hello everyone

I’ve been experiencing a writing slump since the beginning of the year and I’ve been writing on and off whenever I feel the need to/inspired. However, I am at my happiest whenever I write material of a spiritual matter and that’s why I love pouring my heart and time into Bible studies.

Today, I want to share a few of the covers, backgrounds, and designs I’ve worked on in the last few months. Whenever I start a new story, the gears start turning in my head immediately and I turn to the designing process which is meant to inspire me, but they don’t always do the trick.

Image result for gif book design

I get most of my images from Pixabay or Unsplash. I sometimes combine Fotor and Canva where it concerns the fonts. What I love about Canva is the fact that even if there’s a design to purchase, you can remove their design, add yours and still download it for free. How. Cool. Is. That?

Bear in mind, that these are just for fun for I am no expert when it comes to designing covers although I think I’ve improved over the last few years.

The Barcelona Job

This was one of my favorite covers to create! Yes, the picture is simple, but it all boils down to the fonts. I was eager to start this story at the beginning of the 2017/18 football season to chart FC Barcelona’s progress in a fictional world, but sadly, I won’t be finishing this story. I didn’t put enough time and effort into this one and I don’t feel like watching highlights for some matches just to make it work. I’ve written 5-7 chapters and I’ve stopped there. Maybe I’ll share it one day. Maybe I won’t.

Brothers In Law

The law won’t quit me! I tried running away from it, but time after time, I just find myself reading books on law whether they’re fictional or not, so I decided to write my own story. It’s a Law Comedy of sorts, but I have to devote time to actually writing it chapter by chapter and not in the pieces that I’ve compiled.

100 Text Messages

Just a fun graphic for a story that I’m working on for my family and friends. I’m telling the story through, you guessed it, text messages! Sadly, I’m only on message #3. 😞

House of da Díxon

Writing started for me when I gave birth to a pair of French identical mirror twins by the name of Ray and Marcus da Díxon and it’s been non-stop adventures and action ever since! The thing is, I have a tendency to reuse them in almost all of my stories and it never gets boring. I just reinvent them… I’ll explain another time. This story is told using all forms of social media including YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.

I get to make graphics like this…

…and I get to make magazine graphics somewhat.

Crazy Rich French Twins

Do I have a story about how the title for this one was conceived! I was sourcing through Amazon (nothing new here) for titles I can probably use for short stories when I came across some book called ‘Crazy Rich Asians’. I’ve never heard of the book before, but I read the blurb, liked it, sadly didn’t order it – although I hear there’s a movie coming out in the summer be it God’s willing – and chose the title for a series in which I parody wealth – or maybe not for I actually want to show that wealthy characters are not boring as via my awesome French twins! So, this is going to be a blast to write.

Thank you for reading/viewing! On another note, I just have to ask, do you think my new Teaser Tuesday banner is over the top? I know I’ve sprinkled a lot of hearts on it, but what about the butterfly or coming soon sign?

“Have you ever seen the devil face to face?”

Short Story #18
My first Christian Fiction.
Well, sort of.

“God does take too long to answer prayers,” he fussed behind the now frowning Frenchman in the coffee line. “Maybe if I see the face of God, I’ll believe in Him. It must be easier to believe in the devil.”

That was it.

Marcus turns to look at the grumbling man behind him. The man’s face was beaten with weathered lines crisscrossing from the left to right, a visible scar on the chin. He wore a baseball jersey tucked neatly into black dress pants, his hair unkempt.

“Have you ever seen the devil face to face?” Marcus calmly asked.

The man scrutinized him with hard cold blue eyes. “No, but…”

“Did the devil ever came to you in the flesh and proclaim, “Here, I am, Satan, Lord of Darkness now believe?” Did he died for your sins?”

“Are you crazy?”

Marcus didn’t let the petty insult faze him. “The same faith that you instill in a wicked being without seeing him face to face, why can’t you instill that faith in the Most High above?”

He had the attention of the people and the barista now.

“We might have seen depictions of what the devil looks like, but he did not offer you eternal life. It is easier to believe in the devil because entertainment tells you to given that it’s there for a distraction. That’s why it’s hard for you to believe that a Higher Force exists.

“Who do you think created nature? Man? Where do you think your talent comes from? What is that little blessing called? A miracle and the devil cannot bless you with one. What he does is lie to you and provide temporary relief to your living situations. Don’t let the wickedness of this world deceive you. Just as it is easy for you to believe that the devil exists, then, it is easy for you to believe that God does indeed exist. Now, if you excuse me, I have a coffee to purchase. Have a blessed day.”

The man stood daunted for a while coming to grip with what had just taken place. Maybe the Frenchman was right. Maybe he needed to reevaluate his perspective on life and have a little faith sometimes.

I really wanted to post a new story today. Although I have tons of new material, I am not ready to share them as yet. I found this one while going through a notebook. It was written last year, but I never got around to typing it up until now. I don’t write Christian Fiction so this was a pleasant surprise when I first scribbled down the words on paper and it takes place in a coffee shop. I look forward to writing more stories such as these.

Teaser Tuesday: The Barcelona Job

Teaser Tuesday:

My love for football is only growing despite our love-hate relationship. This 2017/18 season, I’ve decided to work on a story revolving around FC Barcelona which I’ll be working on at least twice a week. It’s also an excuse to practice my writing. ^^

There’s going to be talks of dribbles and tricks…

And of course, friendship and love…

Here’s what I’ve worked on thus far:

SUMMARY

I literally suck at writing summaries, plots, etc., because they tend to change as the story progresses and I have to go back and rewrite them, but I have something that I can see myself sticking with.

It’s a French revolution in Spain!

Marcus da Díxon is a young football coach who is given the monumental task of overseeing FC Barcelona for the 2017-18 season. The team is aiming to win every silverware available beginning with the International Champions Cup. When Marcus first takes charge of the team he makes it clear to the boys that he did not take up the position to lose and he won’t be tolerating bad conduct.

The boys soon learn that their new coach is very vocal and vows to try their best to avoid embarrassment in the press, but things don’t always go as planned when they discovered that their new boss dislikes everything that their rival Real Madrid stands for including their bald headed coach.

EXCERPT

The story is still in the early stage, so I don’t have many chapters as yet. This bit is taken from the first chapter that I am yet to edit so excuse grammatical errors and lame sentences. 🙂

The journalists couldn’t stop staring at the new FC Barcelona coach and his mirror identical assistant. They were around 5’11” with strong handsome features. Their eyes were bluer than the skies above and their hair so brown that it could almost pass for a shade of auburn. They couldn’t be told apart very easily and the journalists were afraid to address the wrong one so no one said anything for a little over a minute until Marcus sighs and broke the silence with a dry joke,

“Don’t be afraid to speak Catalan; I’m a polyglot and so is my other half.”

A few of the journalists chuckled.

“Welcome to Barcelona, Mr. da Díxon,” a blonde haired man decided to go bravely. “We’re still on the fence about you given that the club ditched tradition this time and went for someone who didn’t even play for the club to coach the team. What makes you so special?”

Marcus shrugs. “Aren’t you special too?”

COVER REVEAL

I am having fun working on covers for potential stories and this one is my favorite thus far…

Thank you for reading. 🙂

#WritersLifeIGJune Day 12: To-Write List

 :

SWAPPED

In which two strangers swap lives.

Sanctimonious

This is my very first crime series and I am very excited to finally see it take off.

No Boundaries

In which a deaf man falls in love with a bubbly woman.

da Díxon shorts

This is a continual series that features wealthy identical French twins. It follows their lives from in front of the camera to their private one. I started writing it for fun, but after five years, my family and friends keep coming back for more. Maybe one day, I’ll retire it, but for now, I have fun writing it.

 :

#amwriting ✍, Ray & Marcus da Díxon 💙

I’ll like to include me in your will.

Short Story #12

You don’t mess with Marcus and get to live.

You don’t mess with his children and get to see the next daylight. You don’t mess with his wife and get to see the sunset from the Eiffel Tower. But most of all, MOST OF ALL, you don’t get to mess with Marcus da Díxon’s identical mirror image twin and get to breathe the next minute. Ray was the reason why his heart beats. The reason why he existed. When they were created, Ray was chosen as the automatic function between the two meaning that if Ray dies, then Marcus dies.

Ray had danger magnet stamped on his forehead and Marcus found himself trying to do the impossible: protect his twin at all cost in order to keep them both alive, something he recently failed miserably at, hence the reason he found himself in the seediest Parisian district known to the French searching for his missing twin, his heartbeat growing fainter with every passing second.

*** I am still struggling to write. I don’t have writer’s block, but my focus is not on writing short stories at the moment. This is something I found while going through my flash drive. I kind of added a little bit to it, but that’s about all the writing I did. It’s a Science Fiction story, but I don’t think I’ll be completing this one. It was an experiment of sorts. ^^

Voir Dire

Short Story #10

Criminal lawyer extraordinaire Marcus da Díxon loves his job and enjoys fighting for sweet justice, but there was one thing he could do without whenever he gets a new case: voir dire.

Image result for law gif

Voir dire (from French “to see to speak”) is the process of screening potential jurors held at the beginning of a trial in order to determine whether jurors may possess a bias for or against either of the parties. Attorneys may ask questions of the potential jurors and may remove jurors discovering the appearance of bias, upon the approval of the judge.

Image result for law gif

The following short was written for a competition on Wattpad. I wrote it in one sitting. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

Image result for law gif

The room was hot despite the two large industrial fans. The judge, potential jurors, and the prosecutor fanned themselves silently cursing the merciless heat. Even the accused was grumbling about the “wicked heat” and none too discreetly turned to look at the exit in want until he met the steel blue eyes of his lawyer, Marcus da Díxon, defense extraordinaire.

At first glance, Marcus didn’t appear dangerous with his neatly combed auburn hair, cool suit, and calm demeanor. He was attractive despite the slight bump on his Greek nose and thick eyebrows.

However, appearances were deceiving as the old folks say.

Marcus was known for his ruthless ambition in tearing witnesses’ testimonies apart. He challenged the judge, the prosecutor, fearless of being held in contempt of the court. He might as well have been a walking “flipping bird”. He was notorious for his impatience and hated being lied to.

He made a fifty-five-year-old woman cried during his last appearance at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

But Jamal Winters overlooked his young lawyer’s antics in hopes of attaining the best defense. And this Frenchman was said to be the best. His reputation as a shark in the courtroom had prosecutors upping their game. When he took Marcus on, the first prosecutor assigned to the case suddenly got sick and fled to Norway on vacation.

India Benjamin was the new prosecutor and she had been warned despite her worth of ten years’ experience. She was yet to lost a case and was ready to challenge Marcus head to head. She wanted his head on a silver platter and would stop at nothing until the objective was achieved. India was a proud black woman and a mother of two and when she first laid eyes on Marcus earlier, she had shaken her head thinking that he was no match for her expertise. He still looked like he had milk on his face despite the fact that he was married for ten going on eleven years and a father of three beautiful children.

So far, their head to head  contest was a scoreless draw: Marcus 0 India 0.

A potential juror caught India’s attention. She was brown skin, athletically built and easy on the eyes. Marcus saw how much India wanted that particular juror and he smirked. He hated voir dire and often considered it the worst part of his career. If there was a way for him to skip this, he would’ve been pouring over the case in his private office at this exact moment.

But he couldn’t pass this up.

Unbuttoning the top of his baby blue shirt, he uttered a lazy groan and fanned himself with the notepad he was doodling on.

“C’est chaud!” Marcus exclaimed in his native tongue causing people to look his way. When he saw India’s potential juror’s eyes on him, he popped another button and grinned when he caught her winking at him. “Judge, the woman in the pink shirt second row left just winked at me.” he innocently said much to India’s chagrin.

Judge Anna Corbis nastily looked at him as if saying ‘Playing dirty before the actual trial starts, eh?’ and started, “I didn’t see…”

“She winked,” the bailiff interrupted only for the judge to stare icy daggers at her. She shrunk and apologized for the interruption. “I’m sorry your Honor, but I saw her wink at Mr. da Díxon.”

“Maybe if Mr. da Díxon wouldn’t be such a tease!” India jabbed hoping that the judge would see it from her point.

“What?” Marcus shrugs. “It’s hot, I’m stewing in this heat and you accuse me of being a tease? Do you want me to unbutton the rest of this shirt to prove a point?”

“Mr. da Díxon, that wouldn’t be necessary,” the judge sighs. She had no choice but to dismiss the winking juror. India tried to keep a stern face but she was boiling inside.

Jamal chuckled.

Marcus 1 India 0.

Game on!

DAY 29

Ray couldn’t keep his hands to himself wherever his wife was concerned. He would suddenly get the urge to brush something from her hair or to squeeze her side affectionately. Like now, she was attending to a pot on the stove. Her brown hair held back in a loose ponytail, she tasted whatever sauce she was stirring. Ray sensing an opportunity, grinned and walked up to her pinching her in the side.

“Ray!” Diana practically squealed. “I told you…”

He cut her off with a chaste kiss. “I know, but you also know that I simply cannot resist touching you.”
