Astounding August!

July was a little sluggish and although I did not get around to completing all of the goals that I’ve set out to do, it was an enjoyable period.

Blogwise, I did a couple of book reviews, unfollowed inactive blogs, and started the Tom Cruise movie challenge. I had to put ‘Setepai’ on hold and I am yet to start the A to Z challenge.

It was also a bittersweet month because my awesome supervisor is moving on to something much better. I am sad to see her go, but I can only wish her all the best. In the last 3 years that I’ve come to know her, she quickly became an inspiration to me. ❤ She can never be replaced!

So, I guess this is goodbye July and hello beautiful August!

I am not going to set any goals for this month, but I can’t wait to see what she brings! Thank God that you’re alive and remember to…

I’m still looking for June. She went by so fast! But I am utmost grateful to make it to another month. Despite not living up to my blogging potential, I still managed to accomplish a lot.

A few plans for July:

^ Weekend Breaks. I’ve decided to take the weekends off. That means no blogging. I’ll be scheduling posts if I have the time on Thursdays and Fridays.

^ Book Reviews. This is a continual thing as long as the passion for reading is there.

^ Daily Inspiration. What better way than to start the day with His Word? ❤

^ Keeping up with the 365 Days of Writing Prompts although I think I’ve been doing a good job thus far. 🙂

^ The Tom Cruise Movie Challenge. Heh! I participated in the 15 Films Tag last month and one of the questions was ‘Films you want to watch’ and my reply was Tom Cruise’s catalog, for although I consider him the best actor in the galaxy, I have not seen all of his films. I have not seen a TC movie that I didn’t like him in. Even if the movie was underwhelming, TC gave 110%… maybe even more. Well, I’ve decided to accept this challenge. I am not going to binge watch his movies so this challenge might span over a few months and yes, I’ll post my reviews on the movies here. 🙂

^ Yes English! We go back to our basic English roots. I have some topics already written, but I am too lazy to type.

^ Top Ten Thursday. A category that I need to fill.

^ A to Z Challenge. For the last few years, I’ve been seeing this challenge around WordPress, but I’ve never got around to doing one because I didn’t find one that I would love to do. I plan to do long words.

^ ‘Setepai’. I have to thank that diary for this. My last short story – My Chosen – was written in the heat of the moment after watching The Mummy with Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella. I wanted to see more of Ahmanet and a love story between the mentioned actors’ characters, so I wrote that story. Now, I am working on a lengthy story.

^ I have some Blog Cleansing to do. This month I’ll be unfollowing inactive blogs.

Random musing: My love for movies is diminishing.

It’s been a long time coming too.

Just as music is not an important part of my life anymore, the movies are following in this footstep. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson (thanks to my father) and I eventually branched off to the Backstreet Boys, Sade, Depeche Mode, Aerosmith etc. Now, I listen to Michael W. Smith and a little bit of MJ, Sade or Depeche Mode. Whenever I listen to a song, I pay attention to the lyrics and if it’s not meaningful, then I’ll tune that song out.

And now, I’m beginning to feel the same way about movies. I don’t feel passionate about films as before. I’ve only been to the cinema twice for the year and those movies did not live up to their standards. Just last year, I was super excited for ‘Wonder Woman’ but decided to skip it when it finally opened here. My excitement for seeing the film had entirely vanished. I watch movies to be entertained, but lately, the entertainment does not live up to its standards.

You may ask what about Tom Cruise?

Let’s put it this way: one day, I might be over his acting, but not today. He is the only actor that keeps me coming back for more film after film. Even if the film underwhelms (Rock of Ages), Mr. Cruise gives 110% percent and it is quite impossible to hate that dedication. And he is starring in the movie that I’ve been anticipating since 2015, ‘American Made’. I hope he does Barry Seal justice.

I’ll still watch a movie here or there, but the days for engrossing in them are over.

Today is June 09th…

^ And Tom Cruise’s The Mummy drops today. Technically, I have to wait until it drops here next week to watch it, but go get ’em Daddy! Erm, I mean, Mummy! I don’t think he’ll rule the box office with this one, but he’ll be doing it overseas!

Happy 9th June!

Positive Monday: Love makes the world go round 💙

It’s Monday, yo! Let’s talk about love.

If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can be dealt with.
Michael Jackson

Do you truly love yourself? Do you take the time to focus on yourself? To reflect on yourself and see how far you’ve come and where you want to go?

God loves you, but you also have to learn to love yourself (if you don’t). If you compare yourself to others, stop doing so. Let go of the past and forgive those who have done you wrong. If you don’t have a hobby/interest, pick one (or two, or three…) up. Laugh at yourself and remember, don’t judge anyone else by their outward appearance.

Love yourself and arm yourself with a smile. Blessed Monday to all of you.

Jazzy June!

May might not have turned out how I expected, but I’m still here, still alive and breathing and for that I am grateful. Now that May has turned her back on us, let us welcome June with open arms! 🙂

I have no idea how much free time I’m going to get on my hands this month, but blog-wise, I look forward to continuing the book reviews, the daily writing prompts and just blogging. I have so many ideas that I want to share so we’ll see how that goes.

Thank God that you’re alive and remember to…

Liberté Égalité Fraternité: Notes about the new French President

Firstly, congratulations Monsieur Macron on winning the French elections!

Photo published for Emmanuel Macron and how political campaigns will never be the same…

Photo published for French election: What does Emmanuel Macron stand for?

Yep, there goes another celebrity President!

The French election is always exciting! I don’t like politics, but I like minding the French’s business! 🙂 Going into the big day when the French would choose their new leader, social media was abuzz with fierce intensity. Marine Le Pen put up a good fight, but in the end, it was not to be. Macron was elected in hopes of restoring the country to its former glory.

A lot of American celebrities were clearly delighted with the new President-elect:

You sure did, girl. You sure did. Wrote that wrong, that is.

I’ve tweeted some people’s thoughts from the Daily Mail about France’s new President and many of them were mixed.

^ A lot of people didn’t vote Le Pen because there is too much racism involved in her party. You can ask Zidane (yes, that former footballer, now coach at Real Madrid) if you don’t believe it.

^ Whenever I hear the name Emmanuel Macron, I automatically think of macarons!

^ Macron is 39 which means he has become France’s youngest ever President.

^ During the campaign, it was revealed that Macron, a former banker, had married his former Drama teacher, 64-year-old Brigitte Trogneux. Le scandale! He was 15 when he met the married mother of 3. She was 24 years his senior. He embarked on an affair with her when he turned 16? Or was it 17? Or maybe it was 18? Is there a biography of sorts on this man’s life? I want to read it.

^ First Lady at 64! Brigitte will work for free in her husband’s government to plan new education reforms. Yes, girl, serve! Once a teacher, always a teacher! Her main focus is concentrating on “work for autistic and disadvantaged kids, out of the political firing line.”

^ Mme Le Pen was gracious in defeat. She congratulated Macron and even danced the night away to ‘I Love Rock and Roll’ and ‘YMCA’. She got some sweet moves!

^ Macron is pro-EU. When he appeared in front of his supporters, the EU anthem was sounded, rather than “La Marseillaise”. Hmm, why am I getting Tony Blair vibes from Macron?

^ And let the male sexual objectification begin! No, seriously. Twitter exploded with a debate over who is the ‘sexiest G7 leader’: Canadian PM Justin Trudeau or newly elected French President, Monsieur Macron. As far as I am concerned, they’re both French, celebrities and good looking. Trudeau is often referred to as a Tom Cruise look-alike… when he smiles. Strange enough, the first time I saw Mr. Trudeau, I was like, ‘Oh, Tom Cruise has finally cloned himself!’ Then it wore off.

Canadian PM and French Pres:

^ Macron has inherited a divided France. Let’s see how he plans to unite the country.

Vive la France! I hope that you’re pleased with your decision. 🙂
