The Vulturine Guineafowl

For a minute, I forgot about this challenge, and since it’s almost to the end, I decide to push to finish it. This post might be the shortest in the series I’ve done so far.ย

The blue on this bird is STUNNING!!ย

๐Ÿฆย This bird is the largest and most colorful extant species of guineafowl.

๐Ÿฆย The Vulturine Guineafowl got its name from its appearance.

Vulturine Guinea Fowl

Image: The bald and the beautiful!

๐Ÿฆย Because of its bare skin of head and neck, this guineafowl can sometimes be confused for a vulture despite its beautiful plumage. I for one mistook it for one when I first came across the photo.

๐Ÿฆ Although the female is smaller than the male, both sexes are similar in plumage.

๐Ÿฆย The female lays between 13 and 15 eggs, but two females can lay in the same nest.ย

Coffee Tuesday! โ˜•

An instant update!

Salut! And welcome back to this little space on the internet.ย

I’m not sure where to start, but I wanted to do a little update where it concerns the blog. I’ve been blogging less lately; it’s not that I’m not inspired, I am, for I have a LOT of ideas in my arsenal, but I’m just not into sitting down to turn the ideas into a blogging reality. I’ll try my best to work through my anemia episodes, but due to the fatigue, I can’t really concentrate on blogging and reading too many blogs. I apologize for not being able to visit your blogs at the moment.

Mimi Gif: Good Morning

Category is…

La Petite Muse is a pretty random blog. One day, there’s a favorite song, next week there’ll be a freshly crafted story, the next month, a photo, etc. and in the midst of all, Bible studies. You may or may not wonder why don’t I keep God separate. To make a long story short, I prefer to have this one blog where I can share pieces of me from all walks of life so you can see the growth of my walk with God. And I’ve been thinking of adding a few more categories, but I’ll get to them when the time is right.

Upcoming articles

Before this little break, I’ve been working on a variety of topics including:

* The continuation of the Exodus Bible study. I’m currently trying to work on posting the 4th chapter for this Sabbath, but I’ve been slow in getting there. If I had been consistent, I’m certain that we would’ve been wrapping up Deuteronomy.ย

* Book rants… well, I haven’t been reading much lately and I’m not into ranting about books at the moment. Most of them are garbage anyway.

* Movie/TV show reviews. I’ve watched a few shows and 2 movies since I’ve been home, but I haven’t been putting enough effort into working on those reviews.

* Topics concerning the right to judge, the rapture doctrine, and why one cannot have heaven without Jesus.

I’m not certain when I’ll be back to a regular writing, posting, and reading schedule, but I’ll be working on it this week. Thanks for understanding.

I’ll try my best to complete those articles soon and also get to your blogs. What new things have you been up to lately?

Introducing Jeremiah!

As the French say: C’est la vie!

We have a new addition to the family: a dumped kitten. To make a long story short, I don’t know how some people could be so cruel to helpless creatures. This kitten was dumped at the garbage site along with 4 other siblings that eventually died. This one was a fighter. Ma came across the box of squealing kittens when she was coming back from visiting a friend. She launched an inquiry shortly afterward and found out that the kittens were taken from a homeless mother cat, placed in a box, and left to die by the dump. We haven’t found the distraught mother, but it’s sickening to what people can resort to just because they dislike animals.ย

My sister Denise eventually named him Jeremiah, and we also nicknamed him Jerry and Jeremy. He’s quite spoiled, and he enjoys sleeping in a pair of flats that I hardly use. I love watching him grow so beautifully, and he has the cutest little chocolaty paws and mesmerizing gray eyes.ย

I wanted to share him for the longest while, but I wanted to wait and see how he’ll grow, and now, like a happy mom with pictures of her child stored on her phone for the sake of sharing, I can finally do so. He’ll be two months soon.

Everyone, say hello to Jeremiah!

The Umbrellabird

I just discovered this cool long-wattled bird and I just had to feature it! Its unusual just as its name.ย

nature-and-biodiversity โ€” Long-Wattled Umbrellabird Cephalopterus...

Image: The long-wattled Umbrella beauty!

๐Ÿฆย The Umbrellabirdsย are found in rainforests of Central and South America.

๐Ÿฆ These birds are notable for their unique, umbrella-like crest and for the pendant suspended from the throat, which is an inflatable wattle.

๐Ÿฆ They spend most of their lives in the canopies of tall trees.

๐Ÿฆ Although the Umbrellabird can fly short distances, their large size makes flying difficult and it tends to hop from branch to branch.

๐Ÿฆย There are 3 species of Umbrellabirds: the Long-Wattled, the Amazonian, and the Bare-Necked.ย

Via Adela Espinosa, see the long-wattled umbrellabird in its natural habitat. At 44 seconds and again at 1:19, listen carefully, and you’ll hear the sound it makes. It’s like a ship horn or the sound the tripods make in War of the Worlds! ๐Ÿ’™

Devotional Nuggets

Devotional Nugget #15: Making God our #1 priority

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Proverbs 91:1

I’m guilty. I’m guilty of not spending enough time with God despite having all the time on my hands lately. And every night after the day comes to a close, I promise to do better the next day, but I do the same thing again when He blesses me with a brand-new one. I finally decided that I had enough and made the decision to start spending time with Him like the old days no matter how busy I might get.ย

Jesus Sticker for iOS & Android | GIPHY

God loves when we spend time with Him. It doesn’t matter if we can recite the entire Bible, it doesn’t matter if we sing worship songs during the day, if we’re not spending time with God, we’re spiritually dead. When Jesus was here on earth, He always made time to spend with God no matter what (Matthew 14:23).ย

We live in a world where work reigns supreme where we’re conditioned by the system that causes us to forsake the One Who give us the job in the first place. We become so busy and tangle up in duties that we eventually begin to see spending time with God too much of a task. We live in a world where work, hobbies, social media, sleep, fitness obsession etc. has replaced the Lord as our first love (Matthew 22:37).

Here are a few benefits of spending time with God:

* When we spend time with Him, we grow closer to Him. We come to truly know Who He is, and we come to love Him with all our hearts and soul.ย  Just as we spend time interacting with someone to know them better, we should do the same when it comes to working on our relationship with God (John 3:16).

* One of the best parts in spending time with God is that you experience glorious transformation. When people see you, they’ll know that you’ve been in Jesus’ presence base on your behavioral actions (2 Corinthians 3:18).

* Spending time with our Maker gives us a sense of renewal: spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Consider this time alone with God as a retreat. Pray, sing to Him, study, and rest be it relaxing or sleeping (Isaiah 40:31).

* Keeping Him at the forefront of our mind during the day draws us even closer to Him. Make Him a part of your daily life. That’s why sometimes we feel as if He has forsaken us for we don’t spend time in His precious presence (Revelation 3:20).

Christian Faith Sticker by Well-Watered Women for iOS & Android ...

At the moment, I spend time with God by just talking to Him, praying, reading devotionals, studying the Word, and listening to spiritual music. I also tend to seek Him out, no matter the situation.

Application

Is your love for God the same as it was before?

Is the fire still burning passionately or diminishing?

How can you develop love for someone you know little about and spend little time with?

When was the last time you really took the time to sit and just spend time with God? He values our moments with Him. No matter how busy we get, we should always make time for Him, no excuses, for He doesn’t use the “I’m busy” card when we come to Him.

God just wants us to have a relationship with Him; never become too busy for Him.ย

The Toucan

Toucans are beautiful creatures with oversize and sometimes colorful bills that you can’t miss ’em. I actually had another bird in mind for this post – the Trinidad Piping Guan – but after my sister sent me some Toucan pictures, well, it seemed like fate, for they’re iconic.ย

Image: Nature at its finest!

๐Ÿฆย Also called the Toco Toucan, it is the largest toucan of all the species, measuring in at a whopping 25 inches (63.5 cm) with an 8-inch (19 cm) neon orange beak. When compared to the size of its body, the Toucans as the largest bill of all the world’s birds.

๐Ÿฆ The Toucans’ colorful extravaganza is designed to camouflage for the rainforest that allows them to hide amongst the plants. They can be found in the Caribbean, Southern Mexico, and northern parts of South America.

Colourful sight indeed | Get up personal with wildlife and animals on our trips and volunteering conservation projects to travel all over the world with Frontier

Image: Who’s a prewty birdie? The keel-billed Toucan

๐Ÿฆย Toucans take shelter in hollowed out trees usually created by woodpeckers. By the way, woodpeckers are closely related to toucans.

๐Ÿฆ Toucans manage their body temperature by adjusting the blood flow to their beak as more blood means more heat release. Due to this, the creatures sleep on their beak to conserve heat. I learn that their beaks are actually soft, so they’re unable to use it for digging or fighting; the inside of the beak is made of bone, whereas the outer beak is made of keratin.

Image: The Chestnut-eared Araรงari belongs to the Toucan family.

๐Ÿฆ Belize has the rainbow-billed (also called keel-billed) toucan as its national bird.ย

Here’s the thing, I see many people have pet toucans, but I prefer to see them in their natural habitat where they can be free to fly, have a family, and do toucan things. They’re not puppies or kittens and I dislike seeing them being treated as such. Via Birdfun, listen to the sounds of a few Costa Rican birds including the yellow-throated and keel-billed toucans!
