Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Deuteronomy 6:4
Sit for a moment and reflect on what the words “Jesus Christ” mean to you? What emotion/s does your heart evoke when you think about Him? Are you filled with joy at the thought of His imminent return? Do you get a glimpse of God in Him?
Jesus was there. He was with God at the beginning (John 1:1-4), God loved Him before the creation of the world (John 17:24) and the New Testament reveals the God of the universe in the person of Jesus Christ (John 1:14). The words Jesus Christ are not a first and last name as some are led to believe; they’re actually a name and a title. The name Jesus means “the Lord saves” or “Jehovah-Savior” and Christ means “anointed one”; it was derived from the Greek word for Messiah.
“I am the true vine
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:1;5
Jesus willingly and humbly came to earth to be sacrificed for our sins (Philippians 2:5-8). Had it not been for Him, we wouldn’t have had a chance at salvation, and we wouldn’t have had a chance to be a part of the God family (Hebrews 2:10). When Jesus came to fulfill the prophecies that were written before His arrival here on earth, many people had no idea Who He was (John 8:53). Sadly, it is the same situation today. Many of us still have no idea Who our Savior is.
Jesus is the preexistent Word (John 8:23), Who later became Christ, and was sent to earth by the heavenly Father (John 3:17). He came here to do the will of His Father (John 4:34) and He now sits in glory and majesty with His Father (Hebrews 8:1; 12:2). He is the Mediator between God and mankind (1 Timothy 2:5). He is the reason why we can confidently approach God’s throne (Hebrews 4:14-16). He is the Son of Man (Matthew 16:13) and the Son of God (Matthew 16:16) and through Him, we can understand God for He reflects the Father (John 14:9; Hebrews 1:2-3).
I love talking about our Savior at any opportunity that presents itself. I’ll just leave a few things I’ve learned about Christ while reading/studying the Word:
^ Jesus is THE ONLY means in which mankind can approach the Father (John 14:6).
^ He is Eternal Truth and the Source of eternal life (John 6:50-51; 11:25-26).
^ Jesus not only died for our sins, so we could be reconciled to the Father, but He is our Creator given that “all things were created through Him and for Him.” (Colossians 1:16).
^ Jesus was sent to earth by the heavenly Father (John 3:16-17; 34).
^ He is returning as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! (Revelation 19:16). Revelation 20:4-6 paints a clear picture of what the first 1,000 years reign with Christ looks like, but His reign will continue even past the Millennium as it’s a forever one (Isaiah 9:6-7). If you haven’t repented as yet, now is the time to do so for God doesn’t want you to be left out of His family.
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. PHIL. 1:6
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. HEBREWS 12:1-3
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” REV. 3:20-22

I have so many what a hard thing to do to narrow it down. But I love that Jesus dined with sinners and publicans. I love that He gave His life for us, that no one could take if from Him but He gave it freely. I also love before His crucifixion, when He went to pray. He asked for it to be taken from Him but He said God’s will not His, and when he returned they were sleeping He didn’t say ok, done, they are on their own. I will stop there but there are so, so many more. Praise the LORD for His Son, and the gift we could never earn but had to be given, our salvation 🙂

I too have so many text that I love, but as soon as I discovered this one, I set out to do exactly what it said. “You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 I sure am glad that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour and He is very patient and kind, because I know I can cry out to him, I can whine, I can give every thing to Him, and He will reveal Himself in so many wonderful ways, to strengthen and brighten my day.

I’ve been working my way through the entire Bible again, so it’s been a while since I’ve read the New Testament. However, I keep a notebook of favorite scriptures, and here’s one from the New Testament that summarizes who Jesus is to those who truly understand him.
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me…my burden is light.”
Once I understood Jesus, I learned that it was rather a burden living without him and freedom living with him. Thanks again Diana for your thought-provoking post 🙂

That’s good, Crystal! I’m currently reading a few books and I used to keep a notebook of favorite scriptures; I found it back recently.
Yes! For us, it can be easier said than done, but He is asking us to come, to trust Him, to let Him take care of our worries.
Amen!! Well said! To God be the glory and thank you for this beautiful share, my friend! May God continue to bless you! 💙

“Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still living?” But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence. Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.”
Genesis 45:3-5 NIV This is one of my favourite bible stories, representing God’s Grace, God’s favour, God’s forgiveness! God bless!
