Devotional Nuggets

Devotional Nugget #4: You. Are. Perfect!

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.

Genesis 1:31Β

“Had I been as pretty as my sister!”

“I wish I had a bigger chest!”

“He is everything I wish I was!”

If you’re struggling to accept the way God made you, then you may have been influenced to think that you’reΒ nothing special and not enough by Hollywood and media outlets whose focus are on worldly things.Β

We were created to worship, praise, and serve the Creator and not self. We are not perfect in ways for we all have sinned and fell short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23), but where it concerns that body He gave us, it is perfect as far as He is concerned for He knew us before we were born and called by our name (Jeremiah 1:5).

To alter, change, tweak, add to or take away from,Β is toΒ destroy what God called “good” and to blame Him for not making us right.

God sees us a masterpiece (Psalm 139:14) and He focuses on what’s on the inside (1 Samuel 16:7). Accepting yourself the way God made you instead of how the world wants you to be is the best gift you can gift yourself as God never makes mistakes.

Today’s Reflection

God made us individually, yet, wonderfully, as part of His beautiful creation. Our body is not our own to do as we please for it is the temple of the Holy Spirit and we were brought at a price. We should always strive to honor God with our bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and to focus on His love.

  1. This is a wonderful message that I wish so many people could hear. There was a time I wished I looked different, but I now realize that we can not make ourselves look any better than the way God created us to be–we are perfect just as we originally are πŸ™‚

    1. I can testify to wanting to look “different” as well and it took a while for me to accpet myself as God made me. Yes! Amen! Thank you for reading, my friend, and I hope you’re having a great week.

  2. Praise the LORD Sister for laying it all out there, plainly and simply for all to understand. What a blessing for sometimes we want God’s Word to always make sense, We want to understand it all and that is not how it works. We can’t eat everything on the buffet πŸ™‚ We are His temple, and God doesn’t make mistakes. Rejoice in the temple He gave us! Praise the LORD, He loves us no matter what we look like, what matters is what we act like πŸ™‚ Hallelujah!

    1. All glory to God for directing this piece. Yes, Amen! Imagine, we don’t like the way we look, but God loves us regardless of what we look like for it doesn’t matter to Him. You hit the nail on the head, me dearest! πŸ’™

  3. Your nugget is valuable. What God made was good, until sin entered the picture. As we accept God’s gift of salvation, we are reminded, that He sees us as he originally made us good, because of the blood of our Savior. We need to recall the truth as we look in the mirror. Keep God’s word closer to our heart than the words of the world. May your words be read and bless many. God bless you.

    1. Amen, Lidia! Had we as His creation not been good, He would’ve said so. Yes, even more so, we need to keep His Word closer. May God continue to bless and guide you, my friend.
