Thankful Thursday: Blogger’s edition #8: Ladies of the Garden!

Hahaha! Sounds like the title of a Shakespeare play, doesn’t it? *Shrugging* Eh, I’m no fan of Shakespeare, but maybe these ladies are? πŸ€”Anyway…

Pop in for a visit atΒ plantsandbeyond

I love Luda’s blog and today, I am utmost grateful for it.

My friend Luda is extremely passionate about cooking, healing, volunteering, reading, and gardening among many other wonderful things. If you’re interested in creating your very own healing organic garden, she’s your gal. You can stop by her wonderful ‘About’ page and learn more about the woman behind the blog.

A Favorite Post|Β Making More Of Your Outdoors

Her love and passion shine throughout her posts which are lovingly crafted. I learn so many things whenever I pop in for a visit and it has enriched my life in so many ways. She hosts a variety of content including how to host the perfect dinner party, how to make more out of your outdoors and the benefits of moss gardening. Her posts are inspiring and they’ll make you want to start a garden or beautify your house in ways you never thought of before.

Pop in for a visit atΒ reemasgarden

This is another blog that I am very much grateful for!

Reema has made gardening simplified. Whether you’re new to gardening, an expert, or simply interested in it as a hobby and not quite sure how to proceed, then Reema is your girl. She writes about flowers (who can resist such beauty anyway?), pots, farming, mulching etc.Β

I take away something new each time I visit. Like Luda, one can feel Reema’s passion in her well-crafted posts for agriculture.Β

Well, it’s not exactly an adventure, for I’m looking forward to relaxing. During those days, I won’t be logging into the virtual world, but this is not my last post for I’ve scheduled a few posts since the beginning of the month. I’ll miss you guys (especially, you, my dearest!), but I’ll catch up on your blogs when I get back. Take care and God bless.

Day 30: A song that reminds you of yourself

The very last day of this challenge! Before I go into the song, I want to thank you for joining me this month and for contributing your selections as well. It’s been a blast!

I have to go with Brian Littrell’s ‘In Christ Alone’. Some of you may know Brian from Backstreet Boys. He has the voice of an angel… if I ever heard one sang and if he were a fulltime gospel singer, he would’ve been my absolute favorite. He is the owner of one of the most beautiful voices known to man, but when he uses it to bless the Lord it’s even sweeter.Β

Unfortunately, he’s been struggling with vocal issues, but his voice is almost back… I think.Β

Anyway, I chose this song because in Christ alone I place my hopes. In Him alone, I seek refuge, strength and protection. Brian couldn’t have expressed it any better. Christ is the reason why I exist, why I breathe and why I love. πŸ’™

In Christ alone
I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone

Day 29: A song you remember from your childhood

*clears throat and attempts to sing* Have you seen my childhood?Β I’m searching for the world that I come from…Β

Right. Kidding! I have to go ‘Remember the Time’ by the one and only, MJ.Β

Yass! I remember & cherish those times! πŸ˜„

Michael dedicated this song to Diana Ross because he liked causing speculation, theories, rumors, gossips, and fan fiction. Or did he? His brother Jermaine said that the song was in fact about Mike’s relationship with Ross, but eh, I’m certain that it’s about a girl who had amnesia and she can’t remember him so he’s recalling her to remember the awesome times they had together. πŸ˜‰

Do you remember
Back in the Spring
Every morning birds would sing
Do you remember
Those special times
They’ll just go on and on
In the back of my mind

I know I could’ve done better with that headline! πŸ˜’

Happy May Day!

Image result for gif hello everyone

I’ve been experiencing a writing slump since the beginning of the year and I’ve been writing on and off whenever I feel the need to/inspired. However, I am at my happiest whenever I write material of a spiritual matter and that’s why I love pouring my heart and time into Bible studies.Β

Today, I want to shareΒ a few of the covers, backgrounds, and designs I’ve worked on in the last few months. Whenever I start a new story, the gears start turning in my head immediately and I turn to the designing process which is meant to inspire me, but they don’t always do the trick.Β

Image result for gif book design

I get most of my images from Pixabay or Unsplash. I sometimes combine Fotor and Canva where it concerns the fonts. What I love about Canva is the fact that even if there’s a design to purchase, you can remove their design, add yours and still download it for free. How. Cool. Is. That?

Bear in mind, that these are just for fun for I am no expert when it comes to designing covers although I think I’ve improved over the last few years.

The Barcelona Job

This was one of my favorite covers to create! Yes, the picture is simple, but it all boils down to the fonts. I was eager to start this story at the beginning of the 2017/18 football season to chart FC Barcelona’s progress in a fictional world, but sadly, I won’t be finishing this story. I didn’t put enough time and effort into this one and I don’t feel like watching highlights for some matches just to make it work. I’ve written 5-7 chapters and I’ve stopped there. Maybe I’ll share it one day. Maybe I won’t.

Brothers In Law

The law won’t quit me! I tried running away from it, but time after time, I just find myself reading books on law whether they’re fictional or not, so I decided to write my own story. It’s a Law Comedy of sorts, but I have to devote time to actually writing it chapter by chapter and not in the pieces that I’ve compiled.

100 Text Messages

Just a fun graphic for a story that I’m working on for my family and friends. I’m telling the story through, you guessed it, text messages! Sadly, I’m only on message #3. 😞

House of da DΓxon

Writing started for me when I gave birth to a pair of French identical mirror twins by the name of Ray and Marcus daΒ DΓxon and it’s been non-stop adventures and action ever since! The thing is, I have a tendency to reuse them in almost all of my stories and it never gets boring. I just reinvent them… I’ll explain another time. This story is told using all forms of social media including YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.Β

I get to make graphics like this…

…and I get to make magazine graphics somewhat.Β

Crazy Rich French Twins

Do I have a story about how the title for this one was conceived! I was sourcing through Amazon (nothing new here) for titles I can probably use for short stories when I came across some book called ‘Crazy Rich Asians’. I’ve never heard of the book before, but I read the blurb, liked it, sadly didn’t order it – although I hear there’s a movie coming out in the summer be it God’s willing – and chose the title for a series in which I parody wealth – or maybe not for I actually want to show that wealthy characters are not boring as via my awesome French twins! So, this is going to be a blast to write.Β

Thank you for reading/viewing! On another note, I just have to ask, do you think my new Teaser Tuesday banner is over the top? I know I’ve sprinkled a lot of hearts on it, but what about the butterfly or coming soon sign?

Day 28: A song by an artist with a voice you love

I’ll have to go with RIDSA. I was searching for French songs I can listen to while practising my French pronounciation, and I came across this French rapper of Spanish descent. I selected a few of his songs including the emotional ‘Avancer’. The video tells a vivid story of a union that fell apart. He packs his bags and leaves with his young one, but later on, he misses his other half, longs to return home, and begins the journey back with his son. Only when he gets there, it’s too late, for the home he once knew is abandoned and falling apart.Β

Merci pour la chanson, Ridsa! πŸ‘

Book #115: The Night Stalker: The Life and Crimes of Richard Ramirez

Twenty years after Richard Ramirez left thirteen dead and paralyzed in the city of Los Angeles, his name is still synonymous with fear, torture, and sadistic murder. Philip Carlo’sΒ classicΒ The Night Stalker,Β based upon three years of meticulous research and extensive interviews with Ramirez, revealed the killer and his horrifying crimes to ve even more chilling than anyone could have imagined. From watching his cousin commit murder at age eleven to his nineteen death sentences to the juror who fell in love with him, the story of Ramirez is a bizarre and spellbinding descent into the very heart of human evil.

A SHOCKING NEW CHAPTER

Incredibly, sinceΒ The Night StalkerΒ was first published, thousands of women from all over the world have contacted Carlo, begging to be put in touch with the killer. Carlo interviewed them and, in this compelling tenth-anniversary edition, presents their disturbing stories and the dark sexual desires that would drive them toward a brutal murderer. And in an exclusive interview, the killer himself gives his thoughts on the β€œRamirez Groupies” – and what he thinks they really want.

THE AUTHOR

carlo

Carlo was born in New York and from an early age, he was involved in gang activity. He was only 15 when he witnessed a friend shot to death by hitmen. He was shot in the forehead at 17 and decided to turn his life around. Carlo became a journalist and he was the bestselling biographer of Richard Ramirez, Richard Kuklinkski, Anthony Casso and Thomas Pitera. He suffered from ALS and died from the disease in 2010 at the age of 61. I could see why he felt a certain β€˜bond’ with Richard Ramirez.

THE WRITING

The author divided the book into four parts: Book 1 was dedicated to The Night Stalker’s victims, the second book dealt with his childhood in El Paso, the third book was about his capture, and the fourth was about the trial. The author was overly descriptive at times, and also repetitive. At other times I felt as if I was reading a fiction novel about a serial killer. But overall, good storytelling and writing. I also liked that he didn’t jump around the timeline as other true crime writers do.

RICHARD RAMIREZ

He makes many serial killers includingΒ Charles Manson look like a boy scout. (β€œTo be a good killer you have to plan things out carefully. You’ve got to be prepared in every way when the moment comes to strike; you cannot hesitate.”) This pretty boy Satan-worshipping killer was exposed to the wrong company while growing up in El Paso including his older brothers and a big cousin named Mike who shot and killed his wife in front of Richard. He had a penchant for cocaine and was good at stealing until it escalated into breaking into people’s homes at nights and torturing them. Heavy metal music was his gospel and Satan was his protector. Yet, Satan abandoned him in the end.

young Richard

This coward son of a gun snuck into people’s homes at night – dressed in black from head to toe – and terrorized, raped, sodomized, killed and beat his victims (sometimes to death). He mostly preyed on the invalid in the name of Satan and yet, women found this a major turn-on. I just had to ask:

Had Richard not been good looking, would he as the Night Stalker, have the same effects on these crazy hormone-induced women?

Some citizens of Los Angeles were careless given that the media had warned them about the crazy ruthless killer. Yet, some left their doors and windows open. During his trial (which was a circus if you ask me. There should never have been one in the first place.), the β€˜Ramirez groupies’ came out in full force to support him. They were attracted to his face and the fact that he was dangerous. They fought over him and offered their bodies to him. Even juror Cindy Haden fell in love with him during the trial.Β

He was right about one thing during his interview with Mike Watkiss:

β€œPeople in this day and age, are brainwashed and programmed like a computer and being nothing more than puppets.”

Ramirez died on June 7, 2013, due to complications secondary to B-cell lymphoma at 53 years old. He had been on death row for over 23 years.

OPENING

The downtown area around the Los Angeles Greyhound Bus Terminal is a very dangerous place after dark.Β Colorful legions of thieves, muggers, fences, crackheads, junkies, alcoholics, and ten-dollar whores prowl like hungry sharks around a bleeding man. Known as skid row, people here often sleep in the filthy, vermin-infested streets where they dropped the night before.

VERDICT:

love coffeelove coffeelove coffee… My last True Crime book for now. Although I still follow court/cold cases and read law books be it fiction or not, I’ve come to the realization that I’m happy I didn’t follow the path to become a Lawyer.Β

Day 27: A song that breaks your heart

My heart is not easy to break, so I’ll list a few songs that I think was actually heartbreaking.

Stranger In Moscow by Michael Jackson

The raw pain, the sadness, the hurt, the loneliness, no other artist had been able to capture such emotions in a bottle, shake it up and pour it out in a song like Michael.Β

Fun Fact: This is my favorite MJ song and I consider it his greatest masterpiece.

Nothing Compares 2 U byΒ SinΓ©ad O’Connor

This song was written and recorded by Prince in 1984 and never released… until April this year. It was written during the time when he broke up with his girlfriend and lost his mother to cancer. O’Connor does a fantastic job with it but had Michael Jackson sang it, it would’ve been raining buckets of tears!

Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely by Backstreet Boys

This sad, but beautifully composed song touched on some of the boys’ real-life issues at the time: Brian’s open heart surgery for a defect he has had since childbirth, Kevin’s deceased father (he provided some actual footage so I know that this song must be quite personal for him), Howie’s sister who died a year earlier of Lupus and Denniz Pop who died in 1998 and produced some tracks for BSB.

Fun Sad Fact: This is my favorite BSB song.

I Will Wait by Nick Carter

Gaa! I did not sign up for this feel trip! I forgot how sad this video actually is with that adorable elderly couple and the acoustic guitar does not help! 😭 Anyway, I love this song because it brings back warm memories of my grandfather because it has that waltzy thing from his era. πŸ’™
