NaNoWriMo calls again!
Excitement kicked in last minute for NaNoWriMo! I chose Dangerous Obsession as my story of choice and Iย am diving in without direction. This is the beauty of free writing! I am ready to take on this 50,000-word challenge… although it still fazes me that today is actually November 01st.ย
The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. The peeps over at NaNoWriMo set today’s goal at 2,000 words. I won’t be able to achieve that amount today, but the most important thing is to start. I wrote the Prologue during my lunch hour at work and I intend to write a little bit more tonight beforeย Riverdale.ย
This year, I’ll be doing things differently for what can be my last participation in NaNoWriMo. For the past two years, while I did this fantastic writing challenge, I posted an encouragement quote daily until the last day, but I won’t be doing that this time around.ย I want to focus strictly on my writing, but I’ll be writing about my progression from time to time. I also thought of a few funny titles that I might blog about during NaNo:
^ Don’t tell me how to write!
^ Outline? What outline?
^ Protagonistย v Antagonist
I also want to talk about character development so I might spend some time this month discussing characters. Now, time to spend some time actually writing before I catch some Zzzz’s.
It is so crazy and awesome to me how, for me at least, I could be progressing in blog post writing, but still have book stuff to write, so while my writing is done in one sense, it isn’t for another. I also intend to talk about some of those topics ๐ on my other blog. At some point haha, I have no idea when, but this month would be a perfect one for you to discuss as you are going through writing.

Its the same thing with me, too. I think I spend more time blogging than actually working on my stories. I’ll have to do something about that soon. I look forward to those topics!

Thank you! ๐ โค No, not my first time; it's my third! ๐ Here is my current novel: https://nanowrimo.org/participants/royal-payne/novels/castaway-but-not-forgotten
If I may ask, what is your novel about? ๐

I have to read that novel! It sounds interesting and I love adventures! Well, since I am pantsing, so I don’t have a fixed outline at the moment. I am currently free writing and just going with the flow. So far, it features a college professor with a secret and two girls who wants to get him help. It’s nothing to get excited about, but I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

๐ โค Thanks!
Oh cool! ๐ I'm a plantser – I have a very basic outline and I wrote down a few things I'd like to work in, and besides that – I'm going with the flow too. ๐ The only thing I did was a ton of research into what the island of New Guinea and surrounding islands are like, to get an idea of what the island my character is stranded on is like. ๐

You’re utmost welcome. ๐ And on this end, I only did research on San Francisco.

๐ Oh cool! Did you do much work on the main character? I didn’t and now I’m regretting it a bit. I’m getting to know her as I go.
(I don’t know why I didn’t see the last part of your comment on this post, but I’m replying to it now.) I love it – secrets and two girls trying to uncover the truth. Is it a mystery, then? I can’t wait to see where it takes you too – it does sound exciting!

I’m going to be honest: the male MC comes easy because he’s been around for years. I tend to reuse my characters to see if they can fit in with the story and he fits in to a T! I am getting to know the ladies as I go along.
I put it as a thriller (although it might end up being a suspense) for I’m not sure how it’s going to end as yet. Thank you! ๐

Oh, that’s really neat! ๐ I’ve never tried that, except for fan-fiction that had the same characters in it.
Nice! ๐
Haha, I don’t know yet how mine will end either; I can see it going different ways.

I haven’t written fan fiction in years! I don’t know if I can still do it, though.
Isn’t the thrill beautiful? It’s like going on an adventure!

What did you use to write fanfiction for? ๐ Mine was for Nancy Drew.
Yes, indeed! ๐

Back when I used to listen to music, I was a huge Michael Jackson fan so my fan fiction was based on him and that’s when I truly started writing.

Oh, neat! ๐
Does that mean you don’t listen to music much anymore?
