I trust that your day was spent well and that you’ve accomplished all that you’ve set out to do.
Earlier this month, I talked about participating in NaNoWriMo this year and I was yet to make up my mind. Well, I did make it up recently. My friend is also participating and he is excited about doing it for the first time, so we’re embarking on a writing adventure from November 01st God’s willing. Yes, I am officially a participant of NaNoWriMo 2017.
But there’s a slight problem: I don’t know what to write about. 😦
I have so many stories that I want to bring alive, but I’ve narrowed it down to two:
Dangerous Obsession: Two students take their obsession over a college professor too far when they kidnap him. (I know, I know, it’s cliché, but I’ve always wanted to write a cliché story.)
Destiny: He is deaf, but it doesn’t stop his family from arranging a marriage for him. However, he does not want to get married to the chosen girl and turns to his neighbor for help in getting his family off his back. (This is not the actual title, but it works for now. Again, cliché, but I am feeling cliché this time around.)
Even this post isn’t NaNo ready, but let’s do this!
I love both stories and you should write BOTH! All the best Dee and God bless! 🙏💗

Girl, you’re putting too much pressure on me. But I am happy that you like both so I’ll see how best I can write both.

You just saying that because you want to read them. Hee hee! Ah, but it’s true, though, because He is my strength. Thank you for always believing in me, Tammy. You’re a wonderful friend and an even better sister. ❤ ❤

Ooooo, I think the first one has a lot of possibilities, which is always wonderful for NaNoWriMo. Starting from a cliché is not a problem. Just be creative and do things that are unexpected. Give your characters good motives, and don’t make your professor a puppet. Give him his own motives, even more than trying to escape.
Whichever story you choose, I’d pick the one that generates the most ideas and excitement when you think about it. That’ll be the easier one to meet the challenge for NaNoWriMo. Best of luck!!

A few years ago, an English author told me that he dislikes reading romance, but when he read my story he said that he likes that I can take a cliché storyline & add color to it.
I think it was the best compliment I’ve ever received about my writing. I don’t know which one I’ll write yet, but thank you. ❤

Just because a theme is cliche doesn’t mean it has to be written as one 😉 Full opportunities to explore. Dangerous Obsession actually made me think, “You know, that COULD make a really funny comedy piece.”
If you’re into poetry as well, some writers use the month to create, I believe it’s called, a chapbook. 🙂 Here’s to your writing!

I apologize for this late reply. I don’t know how I missed your comment; please forgive me. 😦
However, I agree with you. I like taking cliché stories and stepping away from the storyline that everyone expects. With this one, I’ll be free writing, so I am excited to see where it leads me. 🙂
