Riverdale S2 E1: Jughead is back!

WARNING: I’m probably going to stuff a lot of GIFs and photos in this post. You’ve been warned.

MINI RECAP: SEASON 1

I started watching Riverdale for the iconic Jughead and the fact that Cole Sprouse would be portraying the character. The first season was laced with deceit and intrigue and it revolved around the murder of Jason Blossom.

Betty and Jughead became a couple and together they ran the school’s newspaper and solved crimes. Archie was a moron who eventually became Veronica’s boyfriend. Wild things happened every week as if the writers didn’t sit down to plan the episodes. And this is one of the main reasons why I couldn’t invest in the murder of Jason Blossom because the living was busy distracting me with their weird lifestyles.

Then a bombshell dropped: the Blossoms and the Coopers are actually related.

I love that the friends have a spot to frequent: Pop’s.

S2 E1: A Kiss Before Dying

I am here for this…

…this…

…and of course this…

I finally have the chance to sit down and write this review, something which I’ve been trying to do for the past few days. Riverdale is back! Which means Jughead’s narrative is back! He can narrate my life!

The episode opens with Fred Andrews’s car speeding through the eerily quiet streets of Riverdale with Archie behind the wheel. He’s trying to get his father to the hospital before he bleeds out in the passenger seat after he got shot in the abdomen by a masked man. He made it in time for Fred to go into surgery and that’s when he calls his friends to inform them about his father’s situation. The fact that Jughead flew out of the trailer and was like ‘Today is the day that I am going to ride a motorcycle’ made me laugh. I mean, since when does he ride a motorcycle?

But I am here for it. I love motorcycles and he even wears the iconic crown on the helmet. When did he even have the time to… Anyways, the friends comfort Archie at the hospital.

Fast forward to a few scenes later: Cheryl arrives at the hospital with her badly burned mother telling everyone that there that the fire – which she started in the season finale – was a terrible accident. What a lying liar!

I think my overall favorite scene was Jughead and Betty going to look for Fred’s wallet at Pop’s. And Pop asks them if they’re hungry and the same time Betty says ‘No’, Juggie’s all like, “I’m always hungry, yeah.” He then tries to justify his hunger to his girlfriend by saying, “Sometimes in crisis some people lose their appetite. Me? Mine increases tenfold.” Then Betty looks at him in disbelief (jokes are not his forte) and he comes clean: “I haven’t eaten since last night.” Ah, Juggie.

Jughead is going to be solving some serious mysteries this season. He asked all the right questions (shame on the Sheriff! I still don’t trust him) concerning Fred’s robbery? Attempted Murder?

Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) is home. He and the wifey, Hermoine threatens Veronica into getting back in line or else. Ooh, she’s in trouble!

But wait there’s more! The episode couldn’t end like that. No, no, no. They just had to offload some leftover drama, something which we didn’t see enough of in the first season. Over in Greendale, Ms. Grundy is about to get her just desserts by the masked man who shot Fred. But did he kill her? *shrugs* Most likely. The episode wasn’t called ‘A Kiss Before Dying’ for no reason! Eh, we’ll see in next episode.

YEARBOOK NOTES:

^ We have a big fat mystery on our hands this season: who is the masked shooter and why didn’t he kill Fred Andrews when he had the chance? We know he has green eyes and he is not Pop or Archie or…

^ This is random, but in S1 E1 Betty talks about Archie with Kevin and in S2 E1 she talks about Jughead with Kevin.

^ Would Bughead last this season? I don’t know, but if they don’t, what’s the sense in me watching this show anymore? I know they’re going to probably throw conflicts at them to possibly drive them apart, but if they do break up this season, I’ll call the police and file a complaint.

Maybe I should open a blog and write reviews just for you. ❤ Thank you as always for your kind support, friend. The Bughead part is Jughead and Betty's ship name.

Haha! That was my favorite part of the episode too. When his face lit up at the word ‘food’ I was like, ‘Uh oh, he’s about to go Tammy 2.0!’ Hahaha! Seriously, I thought of you during this scene. He’s always hungry and he loves to eat. 😛

Of course! Jughead can probably hang out with you in the kitchen for almost every episode, he’s stuffing his mouth. LoL! Foodies!

At least you two would talk about food for if it were you and Marc, you two wouldn’t be finishing each other’s sentences but each other’s sandwiches! Ooh, now I have an idea. 🙂
