Short Story #13

Good evening from this side of the world! Things are hectic lately, but I am not complaining. Nope, not once, for I am enjoying the ride. I haven’t prepared a short story for today, but I am going to free write. Yep. Whatever comes to mind I’ll just go with it. I take responsibility for the grammatical errors. πŸ™‚

The sun began to set much too soon for little David. The last ball was kicked and then his friends were merrily off to their happy homes. David sighs and shoves his hands in his torn blue jean pocket looking utterly dejected.

He didn’t want to go home.

Going home meant too much noise. Going home meant mother arguing with father and his wayward teenage sisters who felt that they were old enough to have boyfriends and wear revealing clothing like the women they adore in the movies. Sometimes David wished they were boys who liked beach football and Sunday morning cartoons. He was certain that other families don’t fight so why was his always fighting?

David sighs again.

Splashes of orange and pink now painted the sky. He dug his toes in the sand and decided to stay a little while longer on the now deserted beach. He was only 7, but he made a vow to leave home as soon as he turns 18 in search of tranquility.
