Do not blame God for the suffering

We’re witnessing death, murders, rapes etc. on a daily basis. We cry out for divine intervention, but it seems as if there is no one Up There to hear us. This may lead some people (even self-doubting Christians) to ask: if there is a God, why isn’t He doing anything to stop this madness?

Why?

Wickedness inhabits the earth. All these things are happening as a result of sin (Romans 3:23). We are slaves to sin (John 8:34; Romans 6:16). And once sin is present, disasters will always be prevalent.

Another thing to remember is that this world is not of God (John 18:36; Romans 12:2). The devil is the current ruler of this world hence the idol worshipping in the form of movie stars, singers, material things etc. Hence the poisonous atmosphere. He is warring with the Prince of Peace, but a time would come when his kingdom will crumble.

Satan is identified as the great deceiver in the Bible disguising himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). He has been a murderer from the beginning (John 8:44). He is responsible for contributing to the suffering on earth. For proof, look at what he did to Job and how he tried to get Jesus to bow down to him. What did Jesus do? He quoted scriptures to chase the devil away.

But a Judgment day is coming. A new world (Revelation 21:1) is coming where there is no more suffering, no more pain, no more killing and no more weather disasters.

So when you see these things happening, do not cast your blame upon God. Pray about it. Ask Him to help you understand. Ask Him to guide you through these dark times and if you need your sins forgiven, He is all ears (Romans 6:23; John 1:29).

  1. Thank you for this. Often when people ask How could God…and you have explained it perfectly, and easy to understand. People that do the things that they do are under the evil ones influences, not God’s. They are heeding to the evil ones persuasions, and not to God. This is an amazing piece.
