Here’s to a wonderful December!

*Looks around* Where did November go?

A little recap

I did not get to complete the #NovemberNotes challenge, but prior to the start of November, I know I wouldn’t complete half. It was a great challenge, though, and I look forward to future ones.

NaNoWriMo was fun this time around and although I didn’t win, I am focus on completing the first draft. It’s actually nice that a few people are already interested in seeing the final product. 🙂

Hello, December!

I have a few things planned for this month.

^ Focus on completing the first draft for Obsédé. I am probably going to be blabbing about this new story a lot more than I should. I would not apologize, but you have been warned. 😛

^ Telling my Wattpad story. I also want to start promoting some really cool and interesting Wattpad stories that I’ve discovered since I remembered that I signed up for this platform.

^ Post about the importance of research, character building, and some forgotten basic English rules.

^ Work on a Nostalgia time wrap thing.

I am very excited to welcome December! I am putting things in order for next year God’s willing concerning my future and I am looking forward to it with open arms.

Blessed December to all and remember to…

June plans! – La Petit Muse:

What I learned from this year’s NaNoWriMo…

amwriting 1

This year, my writing took another turn for the scary side. I’ve never written a thriller before and it’s not a genre I specifically like. Yet, I found myself writing Obsédé, a Paris-based thriller and I shared a few largely unedited excerpts with my friends and family and they like it. This had given me a lot of confidence during the challenge.

Writing may have to take a backseat for a while because life is just getting in the way. If I get to write freely for two hours, I consider it an accomplishment. During the month of November, I was too tired on evenings when I got home from work to write or even update my blog. I guess it’s now safe to say that my Novembers are only going to get more hectic.

I love writing, but I cannot see myself leaving my job to be a committed full-time writer. I don’t have the energy for meeting required deadlines. But I’d like to have a cool introduction like Rick Castle! 😛

And my writing just keeps on improving, so this is a MAJOR PLUS for me! The theme was in between light and dark and I think I’ve managed to capture the concept fine. I am extremely proud of how the first draft is turning out.

Well, I am happy to discover that my writing abilities are not limited and I am looking forward to working on Obsédé in the near future. It’s been a real blast this NaNo!

NaNoWriMo: in conclusion

Two days aback, I posted about the set back I was having in completing the challenge due to Microsoft Office not responding on my laptop. I’ll be taking it to my IT guy next week for a check, but at the moment I’ve fixed the issue temporarily.

On deadline day, I was planning to write 10,000 words, given that I’ve done it already. However, this time around it was not to be. I had to work and it was very hectic so I didn’t get the writing done. When I got home, I was not well (putting in 4-5 hours of sleep a night will do that to you!) so I wrote a few thousand words, updated my status and went to bed.

I’ve written 44,643 words this year for NaNo. This is the first time that I didn’t win, but I don’t feel disappointed. I was happy to do this challenge regardless of what was going on in my life and it’s an achievement that I am proud of. I haven’t touched the story since then and I am going to spend the weekend recuperating.

Congrats to every participant and winners this NaNo! This does not mean that you can stop writing. The journey is just starting.
