Challenge: a song that reminds you of a certain event
La Copa de la Vida (The Cup of Life) by Ricky Martin, which is only the GREATEST WORLD CUP SONG OF ALL TIME!! This song brings back floods of only beautiful and fond memories of France 1998 when the nation hosted the World Cup and Brazil was the hot favorite. Even a local psychic predicted that France wouldn’t get far and Brazil was going to be crowned champions. With my father, friends and classmates (matter of fact, everywhere I go, locals were backing Brazil. The Brazilians enjoy a HUGE fanbase here in Trinidad) I felt as if I was the only one throwing my support behind the French. They were the first team I saw play (practically my first loves) and I was head over heels that I was easily converted to a Les Bleus supporter.
France and Brazil met in the final and the French showed ’em who was the boss with a sweet 3-0 victory shutting up the world.
As long as I live, and as long as there’s this song, I’ll never ever forget Coupe de Monde 1998. And with Euro 2016 right around the corner, I hope the French can deliver another exciting performance on home soil.
