#MayBookPrompts Challenge: Day 16

May Book Prompts

Let me just do this… ALL CAUGHT UP!!

It’s been a few rough and exhausting weeks, but now I’ve finally caught up with the challenge and it feels so good! There was no way I was going to leave this incomplete 😛

Challenge: Library of Souls

Never read the book, but here we go:

The Sin Keeper

For every sin, one commits, the Sin Keeper can erase it but it comes at a cost: that you hand over your soul so he can add it to his impressive library collection.

Challenge: As I Lay Dying

There is an American metalcore band named As I Lay Dying and I wonder if they liked the book, As I Lay Dying. Yeah, the mind can be weird and wonderful when it comes to thinking.

I wanted to tell mother don’t cry

To ask father to wipe her tears

To reassure my sisters that I’m going to a better place

To kiss my boyfriend one last time

To tell my friends that I love them and I was

going to miss them.

I wanted to hug everyone to let them know

That everything was going to be all right

But as I lay dying on the cold gurney,

The only thing I could’ve thought to ask

Was forgiveness from the Most High

For the sinful life, I lived.

Challenge: Warm Bodies

He was suffering from hypothermia and Annalise knew the blanket wasn’t going to help him. The only other solution left was taking off her clothes and joining him in the bed, so they can share body heat, but she wouldn’t hear the end of it if someone were to discover her in bed with her limbs attached to his.

Challenge: When You Are Engulfed In Flames

Some of the stuff I’ve been writing for the challenge this month made me laugh and some will become new stories. For this challenge, I came up with two shorts.

I am actually working on a new character. He is tough, mean, and French. I thought I’d introduce him via this challenge.

Jean-Pierre Papin doesn’t speak much. He was already a threat with his shining bald head and piercing grey stormy eyes. But he enjoys scaring the cowardly bastard whenever the opportunity presented itself. He slapped and slammed a so-call hitman against a wall and looked into his eyes. “If you don’t tell me who sent you, I’m going to make it painful for you.”

The strapped blonde laughed right in his face. “Why would I tell you?”

“You afraid of fire, John?”

The blonde gulped. How did he come about this? Who told the lunatic about his phobia?

Jean-Pierre produced a lighter from his trench coat and smirked, “Because I don’t think you’ll rather tell me when you’re engulfed in flames.”

And I don’t know where this one came from (it makes no sense!), but…

You’ll never know what it is

To love,

To live,

To lust.

To cheat,

To beat,

To lie.

Until you’re engulfed in flames.

Challenge: Fifty Shades of Freedom

I thought it was a typo for Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James, but I don’t know. Even so, I have never read E.L. James so-call ‘mummy porn’ and I have never seen this title anywhere before. Help me, Sarah?

No matter how hard I try, I keep falling back into temptation. I keep praying for deliverance, that one day, the good Lord will deliver me from temptation and grant me my freedom from these shackles.

Challenge: The Winter of Our Discontent

This book was John Steinbeck’s last novel. It was written in 1961. The only work I’ve read from this author was the novella, The Pearl. I still own and love that book!

Annalise stood dumbfounded in the cozy, but cold barn slightly shivering. Her midnight black stallion snorted and trotted over to the semi-frozen bundle on the floor and nudged it. It didn’t seem to move and she briefly panicked about a dead body in her barn. Hands shaking, she slowly and carefully walked over to the collapsed bundle on the floor of her barn. It was a man. A white man in his late twenties. She felt for a pulse and received a faint response. His eyes slowly opened at the warm contact on his cold skin and when she gazed into the spellbinding blue eyes, she just knew she was going to do the forbidden thing by spending the harsh winter nursing him back to health.
