Save the Last Dance for Me – R.I.P. Ben E. King

Ben E. King’s publicist Phil Brown has confirmed that the legendary singer passed away on Thursday at 76.

Ben E. King is best known for his classic, Stand By Me, but with The Drifters, his smooth vocals on Save the Last Dance for Me made the song an instant fan favorite. Save the Last Dance for Me is my favorite song of all time and it certainly withstood the test of times. It is a timepiece and it is a pity many artists don’t make tasteful music like that anymore.

Rest in peace Benjamin Earl King. Your legacy will live on.

You can dance, every dance with the guy
Who gives you the eye, let him hold you tight
You can smile, every smile for the man
Who held your hand neath the pale moonlight
But don’t forget who’s takin’ you home
And in whose arms you’re gonna be
So darlin’ save the last dance for me
